Arsenal’s defensive dominance and relentless form have caused a flurry of market movement with William Hill, as Gabriel Magalhães continues to emerge as one of the standout performers of the Premier League season.

The Brazilian centre-back has been backed into 9/1 (from 14/1) to win the PFA Player of the Year award, now sitting third favourite behind Erling Haaland (9/4) and teammate Bukayo Saka (7/1).

His commanding presence at the heart of Arsenal’s defence has been pivotal to their outstanding start, with several other Gunners also featuring prominently in the betting — including Declan Rice (11/1) and Martín Zubimendi (14/1).

Arsenal’s consistency and resilience have also seen them tighten their grip on the Premier League title race, with William Hill cutting their odds from 8/11 to 2/5 following another strong weekend.

They remain clear favourites ahead of Manchester City (4/1) and Liverpool (7/1), both of whom suffered setbacks that widened the gap at the top.

The Gunners’ defensive record has been particularly eye-catching. Having conceded just a handful of goals so far this season, William Hill now make it 4/1 that Arsenal break Chelsea’s 2004/05 Premier League record of just 15 goals conceded in a campaign — a benchmark widely regarded as one of the toughest in English football history.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Arsenal’s numbers are forcing our traders to act across multiple Premier League markets. Gabriel Magalhães’ consistency at the back for the Gunners has seen his price for the PFA Player of the Year award shorten to 9/1 from 14/1, with only Erling Haaland (9/4) and Bukayo Saka (7/1) now ahead of him in the betting.

“In the Premier League outright market, Arsenal have shortened further into solid 2/5 favourites (from 8/11), maintaining considerable distance from Manchester City at 4/1 and Liverpool at 7/1, after both teams suffered losses at the weekend.

“It’s no secret that the key to the Gunners’ success so far this season has been their defence, and we make it 4/1 that they break Chelsea’s 15-goal defensive record set in 2004/05.”

William Hill – Football

PFA Player of the Year 2025/26 Winner:

  • Erling Haaland – 9/4
  • Bukayo Saka – 7/1
  • Gabriel Magalhães – 9/1
  • Declan Rice – 11/1
  • Martín Zubimendi – 14/1
  • BAR – 18/1

Premier League Winner:

To Break Chelsea’s Least Goals Conceded this Season

  • Arsenal – 4/1

Arsenal’s blend of defensive solidity and attacking flair is proving too much for their rivals right now — and with key players hitting peak form, the Gunners’ title charge looks stronger than ever.

Their balance across the pitch, from Gabriel’s composure at the back to Saka’s creativity and Rice’s control in midfield, has set a new standard in consistency. If they can maintain this level through the winter months, Mikel Arteta’s side could be on course not just for the title, but for a truly historic campaign.
