Exeter Tips: Haldon Gold Cup Day Predictions (2025)

Exeter Horse Racing Tips

Devon stops for racing on Friday 7th November 2025, when Exeter Racecourse stages the county’s richest raceday, featuring the prestigious Haldon Gold Cup.

Here, I cast my eye over the six race card – with a selection for each race at the Devon track on Friday afternoon.

12.40pm – 2m½f  Novices’ Hurdle (Class 3) (4yo+)

Olly Murphy, one of our jumps trainers to follow this season, and Sean Bowen having been hitting all the high notes when pairing up, and they can register another winner together with HOLD THE SERVE.

Winner of an Irish point-to-point in December 2024, this son of Jukebox Jury is sure to have been schooled well for his racecourse debut.

1.15pm – 2m2½f Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-115)

Most punters know Charlie Deutsch for riding the majority of Venetia Williams’ horses, but he does have a fair degree of success with Mel Rowley too.

ANALIESE ran some solid races last season, with one of her best efforts coming in a Cheltenham handicap hurdle at the end of the campaign. She can be on the premises once more on Friday.

1.50pm – 3m ‘Future Stars’ Silver Bowl Novices’ Chase (Class 2) (4yo+)

The Tizzard’s like to plot a winner or two at this particular fixture, and their WESTERN KNIGHT can account for his three rivals here.

The Westerner-gelding ran well in Graded company over hurdles last term, and should be a natural convert to the larger obstacles.

2.25pm – 2m1½f Haldon Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 2) (4yo+)

JPR ONE can go back-to-back in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter, with the betting suggesting many punters agree with me.

The eight-year-old stormed to victory in last year’s renewal and now has the chance to etch his name further into the race’s history by becoming only the second horse to win two consecutive Haldon Cups.

The natural front runner could well take some pegging back under Brendan Powell Jr.

3.00pm – 2m½f Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) (3yo+ 0-110)

It could well be a red letter day for the Tizzard’s as their horse UGO BINGO is strongly fancied to pick up this handicap hurdle.

The six-year-old was just touched off here 17 days ago and will be much sharper for the run. I think his fitness edge will prove to be invaluable today and he appears to be a cert to finish in the frame at the very least.

3.35pm – 3m ‘Challenger’ Stayers’ Handicap Chase (Class 3) (4yo+ 0-130)

Course and distance winner STANS THE MAN looks a tad overpriced given how well he performs at this racecourse.

The Milan-gelding is already a seven-time career winner, and he is a consistent horse over a three mile trip. At odds of 14/1, he’s well worth an each-way flutter.

4.10pm – 2m7f Handicap Hurdle (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-120)

STRATTON OAKMONT looks like the answer to a tricky closing handicap on the Exeter card.

Kayley Woollacott’s charge is a course and distance winner and has been mixing it up in both PTP races, and handicap hurdles under Rules.

The nine-year-old has run well first time out on several occasions, so his prospects look decent.
