Nick Luck’s William Hill blog: Martator today’s horse in Haldon Gold Cup
William Hill ambassador Nick Luck looks over Friday’s TV action from Exeter.
TINY TETLEY may be worth an interest in the TV opener at Exeter today (1.50). He’s a strong stayer on good ground, has the profile to be at least as good a chaser, and posted an encouraging comeback effort over hurdles. His rating alone entitles him to mix it with these.
MARTATOR can win the Haldon Gold Cup (2.25). There’s no doubt a couple have more potential and may go on to have more lucrative seasons, but the selection appeals as today’s horse based on his record fresh and his preference for top of the ground. The yard is going along just fine with the very few they’ve run.
GAVIN might be the smart each way play in a pretty tight handicap hurdle (3.00). He’s as exposed as they come but is tough as old boots and a reproduction of his best recent efforts is good enough to be very competitive against an iffy-looking bunch at shorter odds.
THEONEWEDREAMOF can score on his second start for the stable in the Challenger series race (3.35). He was ridden conservatively that day, shaping really well behind a fair horse, and can build on that here.
