Bodø/Glimt manager Kjetil Knutsen (6/4) has been backed into favouritism to become Celtic’s next permanent manager, having been as big as 6/1 earlier in the week, according to the latest odds from William Hill.

Interim boss Martin O’Neill remains second favourite at 3/1, holding his position following continued speculation about a longer-term stay at Parkhead. However, many believe that the club will look elsewhere after a rocky start to his Celtic Park return.

Meanwhile, Kieran McKenna, who was 4/1 on Monday, has drifted to 6/1, while Ange Postecoglou has also eased from 5/1 to 8/1. Celtic fans will be hoping that the next manager can take the club back to the top of the table in the coming months.

Next Permanent Celtic Manager Odds:

Punters can bet on the next Celtic manager at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • Kjetil Knutsen – 6/4
  • Martin O’Neill – 3/1
  • Kieran McKenna – 6/1
  • Ange Postecoglou – 8/1
  • Bar – 9/1

It’ll be interesting to see how long Celtic ponder on the decision, with real uncertainty in the betting market. With the Hoops trailing Hearts by nine points, it is imperative that the next manager is the right one.

Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill, said: “There’s been a real swing in the market to be the next Celtic manager, with Kjetil Knutsen now our 6/4 favourite having been 6/1 just a few days ago. Martin O’Neill holds steady at 3/1 to remain in the dugout with the William Hill Premiership giants.

“Kieran McKenna has drifted from 4/1 to 6/1 as interest in the Ipswich boss appears to have waned, while Ange Postecoglou has moved out to 8/1 from 5/1, amid growing uncertainty over whether he would consider a second spell at Celtic Park.”

With Celtic trailing Hearts of Midlothian at the top of the William Hill Scottish Premiership table, there is pressure on the board to make the right appointment as the Glasgow giants bid to retain the title for the 14th time in the last 15 seasons.
