Ireland vs Japan Prediction, Odds & Best Bets
Ireland fell short against New Zealand in Chicago last weekend but fans will hope to see a much improved performance when they host Japan on Saturday afternoon.
Ranked third in the world, Ireland gave their all but it wasn’t enough against a rejuvenated All Blacks side but a clash with Japan – 13th in the current rugby world rankings – gives Andy Farrell’s side an opportunity to get back on track.

While a second half comeback from New Zealand meant that Ireland suffered a 26-13 defeat last weekend, there was cause for optimism and supporters will flock to the Aviva Stadium expecting a big performance (and a result) on Saturday.
Ireland vs Japan Best Bet:
Ireland showed enough promise in last week’s defeat to New Zealand to suggest that they should make light work of Japan, but I’m backing the Brave Blossoms to beat the spread. I think Japan can keep the scoreline fairly respectable.
That may seem silly given South Africa just put 61 points on this Japan side but I’m not sure Ireland boast the same firepower as the Springboks and this inexperienced Irish side will surely adopt a ‘safer’ approach rather than an open and expansive style.
Farrell was relatively critical of his side in his post-match interview, suggesting that Ireland needed to respond. For me, he’ll be hoping for a comfortable win with no injuries this weekend ahead of bigger encounters with Australia and South Africa on the horizon.
Japan are on the cusp of the top 12 and climbing into that bracket is crucial ahead of next month’s Rugby World Cup draw. Expect the Brave Blossoms to put up a spirited fight – they won’t win but hopefully they can put up a good effort.
