Premier League Betting Tips for Sunday 28th December
This weekend will see the Premier League get underway for Matchday eighteen of this campaign, with the table starting to take shape and a few teams already upsetting the apple cart, we’re all set for another weekend of pure PL drama.
@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the English Premier League..
Sunday will provide us with two games from the Premier League, high-flying Sunderland welcome an in-form Leeds United at 2pm, whilst Crystal Palace welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Selhurst Park in an all-London affair.
Now, let’s take a closer look at some Premier League odds and Premier League betting angles for Sunday’s fixtures:
Sunderland v Leeds – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on Sunderland v Leeds with William Hill
- Sunderland continued their impressive start to this Premier League campaign, the Black Cats managed to build on their victory against bitter rivals Newcastle with a goalless draw away at Brighton last weekend despite losing key players to AFCON.
- The Black Cats return to familiar surroundings on Sunday and that’s been a real success for them so far, they remain just one of two sides (Arsenal) that are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League on home soil.
- This is the first Premier League meeting between these two sides since December 2002, almost twenty-three years to the day and a game in which Leeds took all three points with a 2-1 victory at the Stadium of Light.
——————————–———————— - The pressure had been ramped up now on Daniel Farke but that noise all seems to have gone quiet following a four game unbeaten run (W2, D2) which includes games against Liverpool, Chelsea and most recently their 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace.
- The Whites have now extended their gap to the bottom three to six points and will be hoping to keep this form going and head towards safety in a season in which a lot of people had tipped them to head back down to the EFL Championship.
- The concerning news for Leeds is simply their away form hasn’t been good enough, they’ve won just one of their first eight Premier League away trips this season and only Wolves have a worse away record, i’m going to back the Black Cats to edge this one.
Prediction: Sunderland To Win, Sunderland 2-1 Leeds.
Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur – Sunday, 4.30pm
Punters can bet on Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur with William Hill
- Crystal Palace suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend and then followed that up with a surprising 2-2 draw against Finnish side KuPS on Thursday night before losing 4-1 against Leeds United on Saturday night.
- The Eagles return to home soil where they’ve actually not won any of their last four outings in all competitions, Oliver Glasner’s side remain three points off the top five and will be hoping to pick up just their third home victory in the league on Sunday.
- Palace had lost five league games in a row against Tottenham until recent years, they put a stop to that last season with by completing the double over their London rivals, whilst the last six league meetings at Selhurst Park have been evenly split (W2, D2, L2).
——————————– - Tottenham Hotspur continued their below-average Premier League campaign thus far after following up their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest with a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday night.
- The Pressure is really on Thomas Frank and his players are not making it easy for him, having seen two of his players sent off against Liverpool in situations that could have easily been avoidable, it’s really not a good look.
- Spurs travel to Palace without a win in any of their last five away trips in all competitions (L4, D1), this is two sides that are struggling to find any real consistency and that’s starting to show, it’s hard to split the pair and therefore i’m backing a draw.
Prediction: Draw, Crystal Palace 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur.
