| BY News Team

William Hill make it 1/12 that the next James Bond will be confirmed in 2026, while Avengers Doomsday is even-money favourite to be the highest-grossing film of the year and awards contenders Sinners and One Battle After Another head several key Golden Globes and Oscars markets.

Next James Bond in 2026

Who will play the next James Bond is odds-on to be revealed in 2026, according to William Hill. The bookmaker are 1/12 – an implied 92% chance – that the identity of the next 007 is confirmed at some point next year.

In the “Next James Bond After Daniel Craig” market, Callum Turner currently leads the betting at 10/11. He is followed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson at 3/1, with James Nelson-Joyce 5/1, Henry Cavill 6/1 and Jonathan Bailey 8/1, while it is 10/1 bar those names.

Box office markets for 2026

Looking ahead to next year’s cinema slate, Avengers Doomsday is even-money favourite to be the highest-grossing film of 2026. The superhero epic, scheduled for a December 2026 release, sits ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the same market, with the latest Spider-Man outing priced at 3/1 to take top spot.

There is also interest in how Toy Story 5 will perform compared to the rest of its franchise. William Hill quote the new Pixar release at 5/4 to become the highest-grossing Toy Story film, indicating confidence that the fifth instalment could surpass its predecessors at the global box office.

Golden Globes: Sinners moves into favouritism

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is the new favourite for January’s Golden Globes in the Best Motion Picture: Drama category. The film has shortened into 6/5 from 13/8, replacing Hamnet – now 5/4 – at the head of the betting. It Was Just An Accident is next best at 5/1, with the rest 8/1 or bigger.

Oscars 2026: One Battle After Another heads markets

Attention is already turning to the 98th Academy Awards, where Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another is strongly fancied for a major haul. The film is odds-on at 2/7 in the Best Picture market, with Hamnet 5/1, Marty Supreme 6/1 and Sinners 8/1, before a gap out to 14/1 bar.

Anderson also heads the Best Director betting at 1/5 for One Battle After Another. Chloe Zhao is next at 11/2 for Hamnet, with Ryan Coogler 7/1 for Sinners and the rest 9/1 or bigger.

In the acting categories, Timothee Chalamet is 4/7 favourite for Best Actor for his performance in Marty Supreme. Leonardo DiCaprio is 11/4 for One Battle After Another, while Wagner Moura is 5/1 for The Secret Agent, with others 7/1 and up.

Jessie Buckley leads the Best Actress betting at 1/3 for her lead role in Hamnet. Rose Byrne is 9/4 for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, with Renate Reinsve 9/1 for Sentimental Value and the remainder 14/1 or bigger.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “While the next James Bond rumour mill is sure to continue to churn in 2026, we think there’s a high chance at 1/12 that it could be the year the next Bond is confirmed.

“We may have to wait a while before the next Bond is released, but 2026 promises to be full of on-screen action, and we make the upcoming Avengers Doomsday even-money favourite to be the highest-grossing film of the next 12 months, ahead of the new Spider-Man release at 3/1.

“Awards season is approaching, and there’s been a shake up in the Golden Globes Best Motion Picture: Drama category, with Sinners replacing Hamnet as favourite.

Hamnet could be set to miss out at the Oscars too, with the Chloe Zhao picture second favourite at 5/1 behind One Battle After Another (2/7) for Best Picture, but Hamnet is odds-on in other categories, with lead role Jessie Buckley favourite at 1/3 to be named Best Actress.”
