Now, let’s take a closer look at some EFL Cup odds and betting angles for Tuesday’s fixture:
Newcastle v Man City – Tuesday, 8pm
Punters can bet on Newcastle v Man City with William Hill
- This is the second cup game for Newcastle within just three days having faced Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Saturday, a game in which the Magpies had to rely on penalties (7-6) to get secure their place in the next round.
- Eddie Howe’s side will be looking to take a positive result over to Manchester for the second leg and they should be confident in doing just that, having won eleven of their last thirteen games here at St James’ Park (D2), including a 2-1 victory against City back in November.
- We could see goals in this one, as seven of the last eight games played here in the north east have seen both sides hit the back of the net, along with four of the last five meetings between these two sides.
——————————– - Manchester City didn’t quite have the same scare as Newcastle did in their FA Cup outing on Saturday, Pep Guardiola was rewarded for starting such a strong team against the League One side Exeter City, as City matched their biggest win in club history with a 10-1 victory.
- Saturday’s huge victory comes off the back of three consecutive draws in the Premier League which leaves the Blues six points behind leaders Arsenal with seventeen games left to play, quite remarkably this City’s first semi-final in this competition since they went the whole way back in 2021.
- Despite Newcastle’s impressive home form, it’s hard to back against Man City in this one given they’ve lost just two of their last sixteen meetings against the Magpies (W11, D3), i’m going to go down the middle and back a stalemate.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw, Newcastle United 2-2 Manchester City.
