Premier League Predictions & News
Premier League Betting Tips for Sunday 18th January
This weekend will see the Premier League get underway for Gameweek twenty-two of this campaign, with the table starting to take shape we’re all set for another round of pure PL drama.
@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the English Premier League..
Sunday’s Premier League action will start at Molineux, as Wolverhampton Wanderers look to build on their improved form as they welcome Newcastle United at 2pm.
Later in the afternoon, Aston Villa will be looking for their ninth home league win of the season when they take on Everton at Villa Park.
Now, let’s take a closer look at some Premier League odds and Premier League betting angles for Sunday’s fixtures:
Wolves v Newcastle – Sunday, 2pm
Punters can bet on Wolves v Newcastle with William Hill
- Wolves sit bottom of the Premier League table but have improved in recent weeks under Rob Edwards, they picked up their first win of the season against West Ham at the start of the month and have since followed that up with a draw away at Everton and a 6-1 thumping of Shrewsbury in the FA Cup last weekend.
- However, it’s still going to take a lot for this Wolves side to have any chance of Premier League survival given they’re now fourteen points from safety with just seventeen games left to play, victory in this one would secure three wins in a row at home for the first time since April.
- If they are going to win on Sunday, the Old Gold will need to stop a poor run against Newcastle, they’ve won just two of their last twenty-one Premier League games against Newcastle, whilst they’ve won none of the last eight meetings between the two (L6, D2).
——————————–———————— - Newcastle United has put together an unbeaten run of four games in all competitions before they welcomed Manchester City in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday night, a 2-0 defeat isn’t ideal but with their focus shifting to the PL this weekend, victory here could see Eddie Howe’s side move into the top four.
- The Magpies sit sixth in the Premier League but that’s certainly down to their home record, they’ve picked up twenty-three of their thirty-two points at St James’ Park and continue to struggle away from home, with just two league away wins from a possible ten thus far.
- Looking at this game, Newcastle should take all three points but their away form is something to be concerned about, they did manage to beat Burnley away in their last road trip so i’m going to back the Magpies to edge this one as well.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Newcastle To Win, Wolves 1-2 Newcastle.
Aston Villa v Everton– Sunday, 4.30pm
Punters can bet on Aston Villa v Everton with William Hill
- Aston Villa’s title chances seem to be slipping away ever so slightly and a goalless draw against Crystal Palace in their last PL outing means Unai Emery’s side remain third and now six points behind the league leaders Arsenal.
- The Villans did manage to secure their spot in the next round of the FA Cup having beat Spurs away from home on Saturday evening and return to Villa Park for this one where they’ve won each of their last eleven games in all competitions, impressive.
- I’m expecting that that impressive run of form to continue on Sunday as well, as the Villans are unbeaten in all thirteen of their Premier League games against Everton since their return to the division in 2019 (W9 D4), you have to go back to 2016 for the last time Everton won this fixture in the league.
——————————–———————— - After a bright start to the campaign, the last few weeks have been disappointing for the Toffees who travel to Villa Park with just one win in their last seven games in all competitions, that includes an early exit in the FA Cup against Sunderland last weekend.
- Away from home hasn’t been too bad though recently, David Moyes’ side have won three of their last five Premier League away games (D1, L1), only two of Everton’s ten away games in the league this season have produced three or more goals.
- None of Everton’s last five away games have seen both teams on the scoresheet and with the home form of Aston Villa it’s really difficult to see anything other than a home win and i’ll back that along with a clean sheet in the process.
Prediction: Aston Villa To Win & Under 2.5 Goals, Aston Villa 2-0 Everton.
