Australian Open Men’s Semi-Final Predictions (2026)

| BY Sam Cox

Friday’s Australian Open betting focus is on the men’s semi-finals. Here are our previews and picks.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev

Carlos Alcaraz cruised past Alex de Minaur and Alexander Zverev saw off Lerner Tien to set up a semi-final matchup in Melbourne on Friday.

It’s 6-6 in the all-time head-to-head, though Alcaraz has won three of the last four meetings, including a routine win in Cincinnati in their lone 2025 duel.

Alcaraz has been in imperious form. Yet to drop a set and dropping only three games across the final two sets of his quarter-final, he’s barrelling towards yet another Grand Slam final.

There’s a chasm between Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and the rest of men’s tennis. Zverev is arguably the best of the rest, but he’s no match for the Spaniard.

Pick: Alcaraz -5.5 game handicap (4/5)

Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner

Two sets down to Lorenzo Musetti and being outplayed, Novak Djokovic admitted to great fortune in progressing to this stage. Musetti’s groin injury ended his Australian Open run prematurely and added to his record tally of Grand Slam semi-finals.

The only thing in Djokovic’s favour here is the fact he’s so well-rested. A lingering toe injury might have impacted his performance on Wednesday, and a couple of additional days for that to heal could aid his cause.

The showing against Musetti was alarming, though, and he needs to be markedly better to be competitive in this matchup.

Jannik Sinner was typically efficient in his dismantling of Ben Shelton, winning 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Sinner has won his last five matchups with Djokovic, losing only two sets in the process.

This looks like another routine win for the Italian unless Djokovic’s form drastically improves.

Pick: Sinner to win 3-0 (4/6)
