Winter Olympics Star Now Favourite For BBC Sports Personality of the Year

Now just 4/1 to win the 2026 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, Matt Weston has been one of the stars of the show at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.

Weston has led the way for Team Great Britain at this year’s Winter Olympics, with the Surrey racer securing two gold medals – capping off the nation’s greatest ever day at the Winter version of the Games.

It’s early days in the SPOTY betting but Weston has climbed to the head of the market, with the skeleton star a shorter price than the likes of George Russell, Harry Kane and Luke Littler following his exploits in Italy.

Punters can bet on the 2026 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • Matt Weston – 4/1
  • George Russell – 8/1
  • Harry Kane – 8/1
  • Luke Littler – 8/1
  • Bar – 12/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “What a day it’s been for Team GB at the Winter Olympics – two gold medals and we have a new favourite in our BBC Sports Personality of the Year market as a result.

“Surrey’s Matt Weston is now a double Olympic champion, after adding the mixed team skeleton gold to the individual gold he won just two days ago, and we now make him 4/1 to claim the SPOTY prize later this year.

“He’s leapt ahead of the likes of George Russell, Harry Kane and Luke Littler – hurtling to the front of the market as quick as he sped down the track in Italy!”

The 2026 Winter Olympics continues and there are still a few leading British hopes in the race to add to the medal tally. Follow the latest developments at William Hill as we enter the next week of the Games.
