Spurs 4/1 for relegation after North London Derby hammering
Lilywhites shortest price in decades to face shock Premier League drop.
Tottenham Hotspur have been cut to 4/1 to be relegated with William Hill after Sunday’s 4–1 North London Derby defeat to Arsenal – the shortest price the club have traded at for the drop in over 20 years.
Igor Tudor’s first game in charge following the sacking of Thomas Frank ended in a heavy home loss, leaving Spurs still looking over their shoulders and prompting traders to take an even dimmer view of their survival prospects, having been 9/1 shots earlier this month.
Wolves and Burnley remain the overwhelming favourites for relegation at 1/500 and 1/100 respectively, with West Ham (8/11) and Nottingham Forest (9/4) also priced at short odds.
To be Relegated:
Wolves 1/500
Burnley 1/100
West Ham 8/11
Nottingham Forest 9/4
Tottenham Hotspur 4/1
BAR 14/1
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Following an embarrassing 4-1 home defeat to North London rivals Arsenal, we’ve cut Spurs’ relegation odds even further to 4/1 – the shortest price we’ve seen about them going down in over 20 years.
“Wolves and Burnley are still long odds‑on to drop and West Ham and Forest remain more likely to go down than Tottenham Hotspur, but after Sunday’s defeat to their biggest rivals, Spurs are now very much contenders in the relegation market.
“For context, Spurs were 40/1 for relegation ahead of the start of the season – and went as long as 200/1 at the start of September, which must seem a lifetime ago for despondent Spurs fans.”
