World Baseball Classic 2026 Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips - Preview

The 2026 World Baseball Classic begins on March 5. Matches are being held in Houston, Miami, San Juan, and Tokyo, with a pool phase leading up to a single-game elimination format for the quarter finals onwards.

The United States are clear baseball betting favourites for this tournament, despite only winning the tournament on one previous occasion. Japan, the defending champions, are 10/3, which is the same price as the Dominican Republic.

World Baseball Classic Winner Odds 2026:

Who will win the 2026 World Baseball Classic? Bet on the tournament at William Hill today.

  • USA – 5/6
  • Japan – 10/3
  • Dominican Republic – 10/3
  • Venezuela – 10/1
  • Puerto Rico – 14/1
  • Mexico – 20/1
  • South Korea – 40/1
  • Canada – 40/1

Team USA’s Star-Studded Roster

No one can accuse the U.S. of not taking this competition seriously. Their roster is laden with MVPs, perennial All-Stars, and young superstars. Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper are accompanied by Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt Jr., and Cal Raleigh among others.

On the pitching staff, a lot has been made of Tarik Skubal’s limited involvement, but it’s still a highly talented rotation with Logan Webb, Paul Skenes, and Nolan McLean in line to start the three elimination games.

This roster is clearly deserving of being favourites, yet the gap between the U.S. and the rest is far smaller than it might seem.

Japan’s Dominance & Stacked Dominicans

Japan are three-time winners of this competition. Their roster features World Series hero Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the sport’s best player in Shohei Ohtani, and an array of other elite talents from MLB and NPB.

The Dominican Republic have a roster that can rival what the U.S. are putting forward. The lineup might be even better than the Americans, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Juan Soto, and Fernando Tatis Jr. joined by Manny Machado and Ketel Marte.

The pitching doesn’t look quite as strong on paper, but Sandy Alcantara and Cristopher Sánchez are a formidable top two, who are backed up by some big-time bullpen arms, including Camilo Doval and Gregory Soto.

Other Contenders

There’s a reason the top three are in a league of their own in the latest World Baseball Classic odds.

Venezuela likely have to see off the Dominican Republic, Japan, and the U.S. to go all the way. The lineup is strong, even without Jose Altuve, but the pitching staff is lacking the depth to reel off wins against the top three nations.

Puerto Rico, meanwhile, would be in consideration if they had all their key players. Francisco Lindor, Carlos Correa, and Javier Báez are among the high-profile names that aren’t taking part due to insurance issues.

2026 World Baseball Classic Prediction

Anything can happen in knockout baseball. Even a team as talented as the Americans is vulnerable, which is part of the reason the 5/6 price is far too short.

It also cannot be overstated how much the World Baseball Classic matters to countries other than the U.S. Yes, they are taking it more seriously than in the past, but they are not as fiercely motivated as Japan, the Dominican Republic, or other contenders.

Win their group and the Dominican Republic have a favourable run to the semis. Their lineup has the power to put runs on the board against any pitcher, plus the depth to do damage even if some of the stars are kept quiet.

Best bet: Dominican Republic (10/3)
