Indian Wells Open Second Round: British Stars Under Spotlight

The Round of 64 at Indian Wells takes place on Friday and Saturday, with the top 32 seeds in each draw entering the tournament.

Here are our tennis betting selections ahead of the second round:

Ben Shelton vs Reilly Opelka

Reilly Opelka ripped off 17 aces in his win over Ethan Quinn. Ben Shelton, though, is coming off a tournament win in Dallas and a trip to the last eight of the Australian Open.

Shelton has won both of the previous matches against Opelka. The first went to two tie breaks, while Shelton had to fight back from a set down in Tokyo in 2024.

If Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz don’t win this event, Shelton is a legitimate threat to go all the way. The same can’t be said of Opelka, and Shelton has previously dealt with his big-serving compatriot.

Pick: Ben Shelton 2-0 win

Gael Monfils vs Felix Auger-Aliassime

This is the first time these players have met since the Laver Cup in 2023. After a retirement in the first round at the Australian Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime has got miles in his legs with a win in Montpellier, a trip to the final in Rotterdam, and a semi-final run in Dubai.

The veteran Gael Monfils hasn’t won two matches at an event since March last year. Since then, he’s 5-14. The 39-year-old can’t live with a top 10 player like Auger-Aliassime.

Ten of the Canadian’s 11 wins since the Australian Open have come in straight sets.

Pick: Felix Auger-Aliassime 2-0 win

Iva Jovic vs Camila Osorio

World number 18 Iva Jovic is a clear favourite over Camila Osorio, who cruised past Sloane Stephens with a 6-4, 6-1 win in the first round. Jovic fell to Ajla Tomljanovic in the round of 16 in Austin after a straight sets loss to Jessica Pegula in Dubai.

Dominant on Stephens’ serve, Osorio is looking to build on some good recent form, which saw her win 10 out of 11 matches before she was forced to retire in Merida towards the end of February.

This is only the second meeting between the players after Jovic’s straight sets win in Guadalajara last September. Osorio’s form is impressive, so we think the underdog can at least take a set.

Pick: Both players to win a set (7/4)

Emma Raducanu vs Anastasia Zakharova

Emma Raducanu has lost each of her last three matches, which includes a retirement against Osorio. Coaching discourse aside, Raducanu has had a disappointing start to the calendar year, adding to a disappointing second half of 2025.

There have been wins along the way, of course, but the Brit has struggled when facing players in the top 30 in the rankings. Her last win of note was over Naomi Osaka in July.

Anastasia Zakharova was relentlessly accurate with her serve in the first round and can put pressure on Raducanu.

Pick: Over 20.5 total games (10/11)
