Derby Day Edge: Newcastle 19/20 to Strike Twice First and 2‑0 at 13/2 Among the Big Prices

19/20 for Newcastle to score 2 goals first looks good value with William Hill, whilst a 2-0 home victory at 13/2 is also catches the eye.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the English Premier League..

Sunday will offer up the 159th edition of the Tyne-Wear derby, as Newcastle United and Sunderland reignite their rivalry in the Premier League.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some Premier League odds and Premier League betting angles for Sunday’s fixture:

Newcastle United v Sunderland – Sunday, 12pm

Agree with our picks? Check the odds now.

  • Newcastle United’s UEFA Champions League dreams came to an end on Wednesday evening following their 7-2 thumping away at Barcelona, the Magpies must now qualify via a top five finish but with just eight games left to play and a seen point gap to fifth, it’s looking like a dismal season.
  • Eddie Howe’s side welcome Sunderland to St James’ Park having won their last two Premier League outings but they’ll be looking for revenge following their 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture back in December, the Magpies are 13/20 to win this with William Hill.
  • Newcastle have really struggled against Sunderland in the league, they are winless in their last ten meetings against Sunderland in the league although these two sides haven’t met here since 2016, so times are different now and the Magpies will want to put that record straight.
    ——————————–————————
  • There’s no doubt that Sunderland have overachieved on their first season back in the Premier League but they’ve just started to struggle in recent weeks, the Black Cats have now won just one of their last six league games, they sit thirteenth ahead of their short trip to Newcastle.
  • However, just like any other derby, form does tend to go out of the window and Sunderland will be looking to secure back-to-back league victories on the road for the first time since 2014, William Hill have the Black Cats at 7/2 to win this one on the ‘2 up’ market.
  • I’m not expecting too many goals in this one, especially from Sunderland who have scored just eight goals in their fifteen away games this season in the Premier League, only Wolves have scored fewer on the road (7).

Prediction: Race To 2 Goals – Newcastle (19/20), Newcastle 2-0 Sunderland (13/2).
