Grand National 2026 Day 3 Lucky 15 Tips

| BY News Team

The third and final day of the Aintree Grand National Festival is approaching, and the William Hill News team are on hand with Lucky 15 tips for Grand National Day.

The high-quality action continues with the headline race of the festival and season, the Grand National, headlining the action amongst three Grade One contests amongst a set of competitive handicaps to get stuck into.

William Hill are the official betting partner of the Aintree Grand National Festival and have two sponsored races on Friday, the second contest which is the William Hill Handicap Hurdle followed by the William Hill Handicap Chase at 14:30.

Hold The Serve 11/2 – William Hill Handicap Hurdle

Kicking off the William Hill-sponsored Handicap Hurdle, there are a few contenders in here that appear ahead of their current handicap marks.

One of those is Hold The Serve for the prolific Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen, who have had a great season.

He arrives here going for the four-timer and there is plenty to like about this six-year-old, as he steps up in trip to three miles for the first time.

He beat a solid field for the grade when making handicap debut at Kempton in February and won going away in the end, suggesting there was more to come.

Usually ridden front rank, he will get a ride that suits Aintree and he still looks well in for this assignment.

Glengouly 50/1 – William Hill Handicap Chase

From one Sean Bowen ride to another, there is a case to believe that Glengouly is overpriced at 50/1 in the William Hill Handicap Chase.

It requires a bit of imagination on the back of three PU’s in the formbook, but he has now dropped to a pound above the mark where he made all in the December Gold Cup, seeing off several strong contenders in behind.

He has had wind surgery following his last effort where he was pulled up in the Kim Muir, and with headgear applied again and the services of Sean Bowen, he could outrun his odds.

Honesty Policy 3/1 – Liverpool Hurdle

Following the news that antepost favourite Wodhooh wouldn’t be taking up this assignment, the attention switches to stablemate Honesty Policy.

The winner of the G1 Mersey Novices’ Hurdle at the festival last season, he got up in the dying strides to head Regent’s Stroll and clearly appreciates the long straight at Aintree to really kick into gear.

His Stayers’ Hurdle run was disappointing, but he was keen throughout which would have blunted his finishing challenge. Back on this flatter track, he can repeat the feat from 12 months ago.

Captain Cody 16/1 – Grand National

It wouldn’t be a Grand National Lucky 15 without a selection in the big one, and there are several options who have great chances here.

Captain Cody is one of nine runners for Willie Mullins and whilst he doesn’t look to be near the front of proceedings on jockey bookings, the Scottish Grand National winner could add the English equivalent to his CV.

Since his victory at Ayr, it seems as if he has been campaigned with this contest in mind and whilst he is higher in the weights than that day, the turn of foot he showed after a gruelling four mile trip suggests he could overawe some of his opponents in the closing stages.
