New Sports Personality Of The Year Favourite Rory McIlroy Backed For Third Green Jacket At 2027 Masters

William Hill have priced Rory McIlroy at 7/1 to win a third consecutive Masters next year after the Northern Irishman completed back‑to‑back triumphs at Augusta on Sunday night.

McIlroy was a poor result for the bookmaker after sustained support at double‑figure prices during the build‑up, but his victory still represented a significantly better outcome than a Justin Rose win, which would have triggered a seven‑figure payout to customers.

Rose, who opened at 50/1 in the immediate aftermath of the 2025 tournament before being backed into 22/1 at the start of this week, briefly hit odds‑on at 10/11 in‑play when he moved two shots clear in the final round.

Around the same time, McIlroy drifted to a round‑four high of 9/2, while Cameron Young – who would have been an excellent result for William Hill with the world number three largely ignored by punters – and Russell Henley both made charges that were welcomed by the leading bookmaker.

McIlroy’s win has also placed him right at the top of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year betting, where he’s the outright favourite at 5/2 to land another back-to-back award.

BBC Sports Personality of the Year Odds 2026:

  • Rory McIlroy – 5/2
  • George Russell – 11/2
  • Matt Weston – 13/2
  • Harry Kane – 8/1
  • Keely Hodgkinson – 12/1
  • Bar – 14/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “From our side of the counter, Rory McIlroy winning back‑to‑back Green Jackets is certainly not ideal, but it’s still a far kinder result than last year’s runner-up Justin Rose getting over the line – his in‑play price of 10/11 when two shots clear shows just how close we came to another seven‑figure Masters payout to customers.

“The fact Cameron Young and Russell Henley, two players who attracted next to no interest from our customers, were right there in contention shows how different the night could have been for us if one of them had finished the job instead.

“McIlroy’s historic double has also shaken up the BBC Sports Personality of the Year betting, where we now make him the clear 5/2 favourite having been a 20/1 shot before the season’s first Major began.

“This morning, we’ve installed McIlroy as the 7/1 favourite to become the first man in Masters history to win three in a row.”
