2026 Genesis Scottish Open predictions: Hovland in Scotland

| BY News Team

Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton and Shane Lowry all arrive at the Genesis Scottish Open with the credentials to make a strong push at The Renaissance Club, combining proven links ability, quality recent profiles and the skill sets needed for a demanding Scottish test.

Hovland is the standout selection at the top of this trio and looks the strongest each-way play at the same price as Hatton, while Lowry also offers plenty of appeal at a bigger number. With all three carrying genuine each-way value, they could prove serious contenders in a world-class field ahead of The Open Championship.

Viktor Hovland – 28/1

Viktor Hovland comes into the Scottish Open in good form. He finished third at the RBC Canadian Open before a disappointing missed cut at the U.S. Open, but bounced back in style by winning the Travelers Championship at an impressive 21-under-par. That victory was even more impressive as he beat Scottie Scheffler in a playoff, which should give him a huge boost in confidence heading into this event.

It’s no secret that Hovland’s biggest strength is his elite iron play, and that will be a major asset around this links course where precision and approach shots are so important.

At 28/1, there is plenty of value in a player we know can beat the world’s best. With no pressure at this price, Hovland looks a strong candidate to challenge for a top-six finish, and a genuine chance of lifting the trophy if his ball-striking remains at its best.

Tyrrell Hatton – 28/1

The last time we saw Tyrrell Hatton competing away from LIV Golf was at The Masters, where he produced an impressive T3.

Hatton is a player who thrives when golf gets difficult. He is comfortable in uncomfortable situations – whether that’s awkward lies, tough conditions, or having to grind out pars when the course becomes a battle. If the wind picks up at The Renaissance Club, Hatton’s experience and mentality could become a major advantage.

With his proven links record and ability to dig deep when conditions get challenging, Hatton looks like the type of player who could stay in contention while others struggle.

Shane Lowry – 50/1

Shane Lowry at 50/1 is a very interesting option because, like Hatton, he has a game that is built for links golf. The main question is whether his current form is strong enough to turn that course fit into a genuine winning challenge.

Lowry’s 2026 season has been more frustrating than disappointing. He hasn’t found the consistency needed to force his odds much shorter, but there have been enough positive signs to suggest the quality is there. His most recent PGA Tour start saw him finish T22 at the Travelers Championship.

What makes Lowry appealing at this price is his reliability in links events. A former Open Champion with plenty of experience in tough conditions, he knows how to navigate these courses and stay patient. At 50/1, he represents an interesting each-way option and could easily find himself in the places if his ball-striking clicks.
