Glorious Goodwood Tips 2026: Tuesday’s Best Bets At The Qatar Goodwood Festival
A look ahead to the first day of the 2026 Qatar Goodwood Festival, with William Hill News previewing each race taking place at the track on Tuesday.
13:50 – 1m2f Chesterfield Cup Handicap
Trainer Ian Williams appears to have really targeted the Goodwood Festival opener, with his best chance on paper looking like it will come from the Jamie Spencer ridden MIDAK.
Formerly trained by Francis-Henri Graffard in France, this former Aga Khan “castoff” runs in his very first handicap after some decent Listed performances in the last couple of months. I can see him running well at around 12/1 in our betting market.
14:25 – 7f Vintage Stakes (Group 2)
Tricky ride AL HUDAHIBA (NAP) can account for his four rivals here in this Group 2 affair.
Winer of the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket, the Godolphin-owned youngster can use his finishing speed to full effect.
15:00 – 7f Lennox Stakes (Group 2)
After returning to winning ways in York’s Criterion Stakes last time, QIRAT will tackle this race on Tuesday, rather than defending his shock 150/1 Sussex Stakes title that he obtained last year.
For me, this is very shrewd race planning by Ralph Beckett and the five-year-old can win yet another event at the Festival.
15:35 – 2m Goodwood Cup Stakes (Group 1)
Aidan O’Brien is once again masterminding SCANDINAVIA’s attempt to defend his Goodwood Cup crown.
The son of Justify defeated stablemate Illinois to take the illustrious prize twelve months ago, and he hasn’t looked back since, picking up the St Leger en-route.
Forecast backers may want to back Trawlerman to fill the runner-up spot.
16:10 – 5f Shaker Handicap
VINTAGE CLARETS usually wins at least one handicap per season, but is yet to score so far this term.
Having said that, the consistent seven-year-old handicapper has been right there on the premises on his last couple of runs and can be involved In the finish today from a decent draw.
16:45 – 6f EBF Maiden Stakes (Colts & Geldings)
Karl Burke’s LAUNCH SEQUENCE (NB) finished third in a very trappy novice stakes race at Doncaster on debut and can come on massively for the experience.
The Mehmas-colt has James Doyle in the plate and together they can pick up a victory for Wathnan Racing.
17:20 – 1m Fillies’ Handicap
Charlie Johnston’s father Mark used to farm the handicaps at Glorious Goodwood for many a year, and the yard look to have a nice Churchill-filly here in the shape of SI GRASS.
Currently trading at around 12/1 in the market, she can make an impact on her handicap debut after three nice runs already.
17:55 – 6f EBF Fillies’ Handicap
Course and distance winner SING THE BLUES will put her track experience to the fore in the concluding fillies handicap.
Her debut win for the yard at Newmarket was quite taking, and she is still nicely treated off a 5lb higher mark. Her 16/1 odds will look rather appealing to the each-way punter out there.
