William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell previews his runners across the fourth and fifth days of the Galway Festival.
Galway, Thursday
Our first of two runners on Thursday is Winnie’s Wish in the seven-furlong nursery (14:10). He’s getting a lot of weight here but he’s still 3lbs out of the handicap. It’s probably a grade too high for him, but he will come on for the experience and hopefully he can run well.
Then we have Earls in the 1m½f handicap (17:05). He’s a very consistent horse and he’s been in good form recently. He’s run well here before without hitting the frame and he has a nice draw in stall seven this time. He’s up to running well.
Galway, Friday
We have four runners on Friday, starting with Addragoole in the 2m6½f handicap chase (18:00). He’s been on a break since his Aintree run and he’s been training well so we’re happy with him. He’s a lot of weight to carry so we’re claiming the five off him with Eoin Staples in the saddle.
This step up in trip could stretch his stamina but the nice ground will certainly help. I think he should be competitive here. It’s a nice pot and the owners are from Galway so we were really keen to give it a go.
In the fillies maiden over 1m4f (19:10) we run Pampar Lady. She was second at Ballinrobe last time where she ran a lovely race – the winner was very good. She’s very experienced and Galway is a track where horses with plenty of experience can benefit. She’s up to running well and hopefully making the frame.
Blissful Bonita steps up in trip in the 1m6f handicap (20:10) and I think the conditions should suit her. She seems to be improving all the time and hopefully she can run well again.
Espiritroyale probably just bumped into one the last day. I’m not certain she’ll stay the trip, but we think it is worth a try. She is working well at home so we’ll take our chances.
