National Bank Open Predictions 2026: All Eyes On Montreal And Toronto

The 2026 Canadian Open begins on Aug. 1. Alexander Zverev and Aryna Sabalenka are the tennis betting favourite in the men’s and women’s draws, respectively.

The men’s draw has seen several high-profile withdrawals, including Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.

Karolína Muchová, defending champion Victoria Mboko, Emma Raducanu, and Jasmine Paolini are among the players to withdraw from the women’s draw.

Men’s

With no Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz, the men’s draw is wide open. Zverev is top of the betting market after winning the French Open and reaching the final of Wimbledon, but the German has taken a prolonged period off.

In the meantime, Andrey Rublev won in Sweden and was a quarterfinalist in Estoril. Alexander Blockx reached the final in Portugal. Taylor Fritz, the seventh seed for this event, has been in imperious form in Washington, while Frances Tiafoe and Arthur Fils were on the wrong side of first-round upsets.

Following an agonising quarterfinal loss to Djokovic at Wimbledon, Félix Auger-Aliassime is gunning for his first Masters title. He’s not even won a 500 event since 2023 and may not have a better opportunity to make a breakthrough with Alcaraz and Sinner sitting this one out.

Consistently competing late into events in the grass-court swing, Fritz is searching for his 11th title and his first Masters triumph since 2022.

The American might have lost his last four finals, but he’s capable of beating anyone in this field on his day, as he showcased with a pair of wins over top 10 players at Halle.

Zverev is clearly the man to beat. Let’s not forget his Masters record, though. The French Open champion hasn’t won an ATP 1000 event since October 2024, and he’s only reached one final since then. One win against a top 10 player in 2026 is hardly encouraging.

Fritz represents the best value in this market. Defending champion Alex de Minaur is worth keeping a close eye on, too.

Women’s

The majority of the world’s top players haven’t been in competitive action since Wimbledon. Sabalenka suffered a stunning round of 16 exit at the All England Club, but remains the betting favourite to win in Toronto.

Elena Rybakina and Mirra Andreeva also had premature exits at Wimbledon. Andreeva’s brilliant performances on clay could not be matched on grass, and the youngster will be pleased to return to hard courts, despite some mixed results earlier in the year.

Rybakina, the Australian Open champion, is one of the players most likely to have benefited from a break. She excelled for the first three months or so of 2026, but found herself in a bit of a rut in May and June.

A champion in Dubai and a semi-finalist in Melbourne, Jessica Pegula was only beaten by Rybakina in Miami and Indian Wells. The American’s consistency is admirable, though she doesn’t have as high an upside as Sabalenka, Rybakina, or Andreeva.

Wimbledon champion Linda Nosková deserves a mention. The 21-year-old won in Berlin, but her recent record at WTA 1000 events is underwhelming. Of the Wimbledon semifinalists, Marta Kostyuk is the most appealing from a betting perspective.

The Ukrainian has a catalogue of marquee wins this year. Don’t misjudge her hard-court ability just because of her brilliance on clay. She toppled three top 10 players in Brisbane and could be destined for a deep run at the Canadian Open.

Andreeva and Kostyuk represent the value outright picks. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Rybakina in the first couple of rounds to see if she can rediscover the form from earlier in the year.
