Curragh Tips Today: Best Bets In Ireland On Sunday 16th August 2026

William Hill news takes a look at the best bets at the Curragh on Sunday afternoon.

Racing at The Curragh this Sunday features an 8-race card headlined by the Group 3 Newbridge Silverware Royal Whip Stakes. Gates open at 12:00 pm, with the first race scheduled for 1:35 pm.

Our horse racing expert Steven Mullington marks your entire Irish card:

1.35 – 6f Nursery Handicap (2-y-o)

Course and distance scorer I READY will be just that in the Curragh opener for two-year-olds.

A plucky winner at the end of July over a couple of O’Brien-trained runners, this Paul Flynn gelding can put up another bold show.

2.10 – 6f Maiden (2-y-o)

HEART OF YOU found very little in the final furlong on her debut at Galway, so this drop down to six furlongs should be ideal for her.

Shane Foley is in the plate once again so a positive ride is expected.

2.45 – 1m Handicap

Jim Bolger’s NEO SMART has got to be worth another go at getting her head back in front for the first time since February.

The five-year-old mare ran with plenty of promise at Gowran the other day, so she can be on the premises again this weekend.

3.20 – 1m1f Maiden (2-y-o)

DANCINGINTHECITY (NAP) can marshal his rivals on debut here for the Joseph O’Brien stable.

The youngster will not be found wanting for stamina as he is sired by the classy Japanese-bred stayer Saxon Warrior (Deep Impact). Any money for him in our horse racing betting should be noted.

3.55 – 1m2f Handicap

NIBRAS RAINBOW (NB) put in a rare below-par performance at Gowran four days ago, but should be followed to bounce right back off bottom weight today.

The six-time winner will have Chris Hayes in the saddle which makes him a very interesting each-way prospect at the very least.

4.25 – 1m2f Royal Whip Stakes (Group 3)

A BOY NAMED SUSIE is by far the highest-rated horse in the race with an official rating of 118, this puts him a massive 12lbs clear of his nearest rival, Joseph O’Brien’s Omni Man (rated 106).

The Eclipse second should justify his short odds in our sports betting for this contest and it will be a major shock if he is beaten.

4.55 – 5f William Hill Juvenile Sprint Stakes (Listed Race) (2-y-o)

Speedster GRAYROBIN can make all under Chris Heyes to land the silverware in this William Hill sponsored sprint.

The quick grey has dominated and won his last two five furlong sprints and I see no reason why he can’t do so again?

5.25 – 5f Handicap

HARRY’S HILL ran his best race in some time when finishing a highly commendable second in a 18-runner handicap here one month ago.

Paddy Harnett’s 5lb claim will be extremely useful for this previous course and distance winner who clearly thrives at the venue.
