FedEx St. Jude Championship Round 3 Tips: Winner Without Scheffler Market Way To Go
Scottie Scheffler is the odds-on golf betting favourite for the FedEx St. Jude Championship heading into the third round.
Scheffler holds a three-shot lead after an exemplary 61 on Friday. The world number one had 13 one putts en route to a historic round. Viktor Hovland and Im Sung-jae trail Scheffler after shooting -6 and -4 on Friday, respectively.
Is Scheffler Unbeatable?
The 2026 season has been riddled with near-misses for Scheffler. He’s got a massive lead in the FedEx Cup despite a lack of titles. Consistently in contention and often finishing within striking distance of the winner, Scheffler is far and away the best golfer on the planet and he has been superb through two days at TPC Southwind.
On Thursday, he was scoring well even with errant shots off the tee. On Friday, his putter got white-hot and his approach play was dialled in.
No one should be unbeatable with a three-shot lead with 36 holes to play. Conditions are favourable for low scores at Southwind.
Still, Scheffler’s performances in the first two rounds have been ominous for the rest of the field. His putter has to cool down drastically if that gap is to disappear.
Winner Without Scheffler
Fortunately, William Hill gives us the option to bet on the Winner Without Scheffler market. Hovland (7/2) is the current favourite ahead of Ludvig Åberg (5/1). Im is sitting at 6/1 with Tommy Fleetwood at 13/2.
Sudarshan Yellamaraju is second behind Scheffler is strokes gained tee to green through the first two rounds. He’s three shots off second place and comes in at 50/1 in this market. The Canadian certainly has value as a longshot and should be considered at 11/4 for a top 10.
Brian Harman, who was second to Yellamaraju in strokes gained tee to green on Friday, is as long as 22/1 to be the winner without Scheffler.
Don’t forget about pre-tournament pick Hideki Matsuyama. He had some woes on and around the greens on Friday, but the underlying numbers remain encouraging. We like 6/4 for the top 10.
