Fulham v Chelsea – Monday, 8pm

- Fulham will start life under Álvaro Arbeloa on Monday evening and begin the season as one of the sides many pundits expect to be hovering around the relegation picture.
- The Cottagers will be desperate to prove those doubters wrong straight away by winning this London derby, particularly after two of the new boys pulled off shock victories over the weekend. That said, it won’t be easy — Fulham have won just one of their last six Premier League opening‑day fixtures (D2, L3).
- History at Craven Cottage doesn’t help much either. Fulham have lost six of the last eight meetings with Chelsea on home soil, though they’ll take encouragement from that 2‑1 win over the Blues at the start of 2026, William Hill price the Whites at 11/4 to kick off the Arbeloa era with a derby victory.
- Chelsea have turned to Xabi Alonso as the man to potentially get them challenging again in the Premier League, and he’s certainly been backed during the summer transfer window, splashing around £300million to strengthen his squad and reshape the team in his image.
- As mentioned, Chelsea lost here at Craven Cottage back in January, but the good news for the Blues is that they haven’t suffered consecutive defeats against Fulham since all the way back in 1979, a run Alonso will be keen to protect on Monday night.
- The Blues haven’t won their opening game in any of their last three attempts in the Premier League, last going four in a row without a win between 1995–96 and 1998–99. Alonso’s men are 17/20 with William Hill to win this London derby.
