York Tips Day 4: 2026 Ebor Festival Predictions
And then there was one – the fourth and final day of the 2026 York Ebor Festival is upon us and William Hill News have covered every race on Saturday, including a look at the feature race.
Here, our writer Steve Mullington bids to go through the card this weekend – with his thoughts and the latest odds on Saturday’s action on the Knavesmire. Without further ado, here is his take on Day 4 at York’s Ebor meeting.
1:50pm Strensall Stakes (Group 3) 1m1f
Representing Karl Burke’s powerful northern yard, BOILING POINT represents excellent value at 8/1 odds in our horse racing betting.
He has run several highly encouraging races in top-tier company and was unlucky to just go down a neck at Goodwood last time.
2:25pm Melrose Stakes Handicap 1m6f
Trained by William Haggas, INFRAAD has progressed rapidly this term, most recently recording a success over 1m4f at Goodwood.
This step up to 1m6f should bring even more improvement, and the Haggas stable rarely leave the York Ebor Festival without a winner or two.
3:00pm City of York Stakes (Group 1) 7f
ZAVATERI (NAP) caught the eye when finishing a close fifth in the Sussex Stakes over a mile.
Today he is dropping back to seven furlongs which is the distance over which he landed the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh. All these little shoots of recovery bode well for a return of the old Zavateri on Saturday.
3:35pm Ebor Handicap 1m6f
Trained by Ger Lyons and ridden by regular stable jockey Colin Keane, the progressive five-year-old gelding POETIC SOUND (NB) booked his direct ticket to the Knavesmire with a tactical victory in the Race To The Ebor Handicap at the Curragh earlier this season.
Currently trading at odds of 40/1 in our sports betting, the gelding has almost become a forgotten horse by the punting masses, however he should be ignored at your peril.
His stalk-and-pounce style is the ideal tactic in a crowded 22-runner Ebor field, and I can see him arriving late on the scene.
4:10pm Constantine Stakes Handicap 6f
Mick Appleby is arguably one of the shrewdest trainers in the handicap sphere and his COUL ANGEL appears to have been plotted for this race.
A week on from landing the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon, this four-year-old has every chance of given Appleby yet another big Saturday winner, at yet another Yorkshire racecourse.
4:45pm Roses Stakes Listed 2yo 5f
ADONIUS would be a welcome tonic for trainer Rebecca Menzies on Saturday after she experienced a bit of a tumble at her yard recently.
Ridden by regular rider Kaiya Fraser, this model of consistency sets a high bar, arriving off the back of a solid runner-up effort in the Molecomb Stakes. I would be quite surprised if the two-year-old doesn’t make there frame here.
5:20pm Finale Stakes Handicap 1m2f
Trained by George Scott for owners Victorious Forever, the progressive four-year-old AL AALI arrives at the Ebor Festival at the top of his game.
He arrives on the Knavesmire on the back of consecutive, high-profile victories. Successful in a ten-furlong handicap at Newmarket in mid-July he followed it up with a gritty victory in the Chesterfield Cup Handicap at Goodwood.
If you can find double-figure odds in our sports betting for him, snap up the value!
