William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Sunday’s La Liga clash between Barcelona and Athletic Club.

Our Prediction: Barcelona To Score Over 2.5 Goals (EVS), Barcelona 3-1 Athletic Club (9/1)

The Camp Nou hosts its first La Liga night of the new season on Thursday as Barcelona take on Athletic Club.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some La Liga odds and betting angles for Thursday’s fixture:

Barcelona v Athletic Club – Thursday, 8pm

View all available markets at William Hill

  • Barcelona began their title defence on Sunday looking to make it three straight La Liga crowns, something they haven’t managed since Pep Guardiola’s side achieved the feat in 2011. The arrival of Rodri this summer has only added to the expectation surrounding the Catalan giants.
  • Hansi Flick’s men made no mistake in their opener away at Elche, a 5-0 victory without really getting out of first gear will answer questions about the goals potentially drying-up following the loss of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
  • This will be the first time this season that Barcelona have played on home soil and that should encourage Barca, especially given the fact they won all nineteen league games here this season, conceding just ten goals in the process, they welcome Athletic Club as the 3/10 favourites with William Hill.

  • Former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic is the man in charge of Athletic Club now but three defeats in pre-season before a 3-1 defeat at home to Sevilla at the weekend in La Liga has started to concern fans.
  • Getting off to the worst possible start doesn’t look like it will end here if history is anything to go by, with Athletic Club winning just one of their last twenty meetings in this fixture across all competitions, whilst they’ve won none of the last nineteen in normal time.
  • You have to go back to 2001 for the last time Athletic Club won away at Barcelona in La Liga, whilst they’ve conceded two or more in each of their las six La Liga away trips, it’s hard to put a case together here for the away side.
