Carlos Alcaraz vs Roman Safiullin Prediction

Interestingly, Roman Safiullin beat Carlos Alcaraz back in 2023. There’s plenty of uncertainty heading into this match – we’ve not seen Alcaraz play a singles match since April, and little can be read into his showing in the mixed doubles.

A run to the round of 16 at Wimbledon is the only mark Safiullin has made on the ATP Tour this year. He’s been successful on the Challenger Tour, but there’s nothing to suggest he can trouble Alcaraz.

Alcaraz’s fitness will be tested over the next week or two. He will hope this match helps him get into some rhythm.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Arthur Fils Prediction

One of our best value outright picks after his first ATP 1000 title in Cincinnati, Arthur Fils has a tricky first-round matchup with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek won in Gstaad, but he’s not made much noise since the ATP Tour returned to North America.

Fils also has a very favourable head-to-head record. He’s won all five of his meetings with Tsitsipas, including a win in Miami earlier this year. The Frenchman has climbed to 11th in the world with a last-eight appearance in Montreal leading into his success at the Cincinnati Open.

Fils is facing the most pressure he’s ever had heading into a Slam. He’s a legitimate contender. Still, he should be able to clear this first hurdle with relative ease.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Camila Osorio Prediction

Camila Osorio has been beaten emphatically in both of her previous meetings with Aryna Sabalenka. The Colombian had some good results earlier this year, including wins over Emma Raducanu, Alexandra Eala, and Iva Jovic.

Osorio’s form hasn’t been great lately, though. She lost in the first round in Monterrey and Cincinnati. We have to go back to Roland Garros for the last time she beat a player inside the world’s top 90.

Sure, Sabalenka is far from her dominant best, but the world number one should be able to get through this without too much of a scare.

Harriet Dart vs Peyton Stearns Prediction

It’s one win apiece for Harriet Dart and Peyton Stearns. Stearns notably beat Dart in straight sets in Cincinnati earlier this month, though the American fell at the round of 64.

Dart dug deep to win all three of her qualifiers in straight sets, including a come-from-behind win against Heather Watson. The Brit has one win against a top 60 player since the 2024 Cincinnati Open – Stearns is 55th in the rankings.

It should be a routine win for Stearns, who has much greater challenges to come.
