Shane Lowry’s sensational 11-shot victory at the Amgen Irish Open proved a costly result for William Hill, after the Irishman and Rory McIlroy accounted for around 30% of all pre-tournament and in-play stakes.

Lowry produced a record-breaking display at Trump International Golf Links Ireland in Doonbeg, finishing on 23-under par to claim his second Irish Open title and a seventh career victory.

The 39-year-old was a 25/1 winner and, by the end of Friday’s play, Lowry had become one of the bookmaker’s biggest liabilities alongside McIlroy.

Lowry’s final-round 63 turned a four-shot advantage into an 11-stroke victory over Patrick Reed and Joaquín Niemann, breaking the tournament record for the largest winning margin. His 23-under total of 257 also set a new 72-hole scoring record for the Irish Open.

US President Donald Trump’s attendance added to Lowry’s memorable home win. Trump watched Lowry extend his advantage on Saturday and presented him with the trophy after Sunday’s final round. Following their interaction in Doonbeg, William Hill has installed the Irishman at 12/1 to visit the White House before the end of 2026.
