GB vs Ecuador In The Davis Cup: Eyes Of Tennis World On London, With Hosts Well Fancied

Great Britain face Ecuador in the second round of Davis Cup qualifiers this weekend and William Hill News are here to preview the action, with tennis odds and predictions across the next few days.

Ecuador don’t have a player in their team in the top 200 in the singles rankings. Three Brits – Arthur Fery, Cameron Norrie, and Toby Samuel – are in the top 100. Great Britain also have the first and third-ranked doubles players in Henry Patten and Neal Skupski.

Despite regularly making the latter stages of the competition, Great Britain haven’t reached a Davis Cup final since they won the event in 2015. Ecuador’s win over Australia earlier this year has given them a rare chance to reach the Finals, but there’s no question they are huge underdogs in the betting for this contest.

Where Do Great Britain Face Ecuador in the Davis Cup?

Great Britain have home advantage for this matchup. It will take place at Copper Box Arena in London.

It is the first time these nations have met since 2001, when the Brits ran out comfortable victors behind singles wins from Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski.

Davis Cup Predictions

Fery and Norrie haven’t been in their best form, with both players falling in the first round of the US Open. Norrie hasn’t had a great year overall, while Fery’s highlight obviously came with his semi-final run at Wimbledon.

Skupski and Patten met in the semis of the US Open, with the former winning the matchup en route to his third Grand Slam title.

Andres Andrade made the final of Kingston 2 on the Challenger Tour, but Alvaro Guillen Meza’s recent results have been far less encouraging.

There’s an absolute chasm between these two teams. Ecuador have confidence after upsetting the Australians, but anything other than a comfortable win for the Brits would be a surprise. Ecuador’s best chance of getting on the board is when they face Samuel.
