- England U21 cruised towards qualification for the 2027 European Championship in Albania and Serbia, aiming to become just the second nation in history to win three consecutive titles — a feat only Italy have managed (1992, 1994, 1996).
- England head into Thursday’s qualifier with a dominant record against Slovakia, winning five straight meetings since their 2–0 loss at the 2000 U21 Euros. The Young Lions have hit four goals in three of their last four matches — including each of their last two — and another four‑goal showing here would be a first in their history.
- Lee Carsley’s numbers remain extraordinary: 35 wins from 45 games (D3, L7), a 78% win rate, the best of any England U21 manager with five or more matches. It’s no surprise they’re 1/6 odds‑on favourites with William Hill.
- Slovakia U21 slipped out of the top two after a 2–0 home defeat to Ireland, leaving Jaroslav Kentoš’ side with just two games to claw their way back into the qualification spots.
- The Little Falcons can at least lean on their away form, unbeaten in eight on the road, but they’ve failed to beat England in their last four attempts, including a 4–0 defeat on home soil in November 2025. Punters chasing a major upset can back Slovakia at 11/1 with William Hill.
