Ballon d'Or

William Hill now make Harry Kane and Lamine Yamal odds-on joint favourites for the 2026 Ballon d’Or award.

Kane was favourite for the award until Yamal overtook him last week, with the Spaniard’s odds crashing to 8/15 amid his Ballon d’Or campaign.

However, Kane has hit back with five goals in four matches across the recent international break, equalling Peter Shilton’s 125 appearances record in the process and taking his international tally to 91.

Kane’s recent heroics, alongside his 96 goals and assists since the start of the 2025/26 season, make him a leading candidate alongside Yamal, who won La Liga with Barcelona, the World Cup with Spain, and provided 64 goals and assists along the way.

Ballon d’Or 2026 odds

  • Harry Kane – 5/6
  • Lamine Yamal – 5/6
  • Kylian Mbappe – 16/1
  • Lionel Messi – 22/1
  • Rodri – 33/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Harry Kane joined Peter Shilton on 125 England caps last night and netted two goals in the process, taking his tally 91 for the national team.

“As a result, his price has shortened back to 5/6 from the Ballon d’Or (from 5/4), seeing him join Spain’s Lamine Yamal at the head of the betting.

“Yamal had been as short as 8/15 last week, but the England forward’s scintillating form for England has seen him peg back the Spaniard.

“It looks to be a proper two-horse race now, with Kylian Mbappe third in the betting at 16/1.”
