British NBA Players To Follow In 2026/27: How Will The Four Brits Fare In Pursuit Of Glory?
There are four British-born NBA players in the 2026-27 season and William Hill News look at how each player may fare this campaign.
One of the Brits had a major impact on NBA outright betting last season, while another was selected in the second round of the 2026 draft.
Nikola Jović
Nikola Jović might play for Serbia, but the Miami Heat forward was actually born in Leicester. His father, Ilija, was playing basketball in Leicester at the time, and Nikola remained in the UK until he was nine.
A standout performer in the Adriatic Basketball League, Jović was selected 27th overall by the Heat in the 2022 draft. He appeared only 15 times in his rookie season and has primarily been a bench player for Miami.
The 2026-27 season is an intriguing one for the Leicester-born forward as Miami tries to balance its lineups around Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo – two basketball giants who are known amongst sports betting punters around the world.
OG Anunoby
Born in London, OG Anunoby’s family moved to Missouri when he was four. His brother played for multiple NFL teams, but Anunoby’s focus was basketball.
A three-star recruit, he impressed at Indiana in college ball and was selected late in the 2017 first round by the Toronto Raptors.
Anunoby was a champion with the Raptors in 2019 and won his second title with the New York Knicks in 2026. His putback to cap off a spectacular Knicks comeback in the Finals is one of the most iconic moments in NBA history.
Amari Williams
Born in Nottingham in 2002, Amari Williams started out with the Mansfield Giants. He transferred to Myerscough College at 16 years of age, but his size and basketball talent took him to college in the U.S.
Williams began with Drexel, winning CAA Defensive Player of the Year in three straight seasons. The pandemic granted an extra season of college eligibility, which Williams used to transfer to Kentucky.
His performances for the Wildcats led to being selected 46th overall by the Orlando Magic in 2025 draft.
Tobi Lawal
Starting his basketball journey at the City of London Academy, Tobi Lawal headed to Maine for his prep year before spending college with the VCU Rams.
His first two seasons in college ball were nothing to get too excited about, but Lawal had a breakout year after he joined the Virginia Tech Huskies.
The 6’8 forward was selected 48th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2026 draft.
