ITV Racing Tips: Flat Focus At Doncaster While Jumps Returns To Cheltenham
The live action will come thick and fast on ITV Racing on Saturday with two meetings and eight races being shown on the channel.
There’s a multitude of Group races taking place at Doncaster, whilst Cheltenham continues into its second day of the William Hill Showcase Meeting.
Our horse racing expert Steven Mullington gives us an angle on all of the TV races, with a glance over the latest sports betting odds for each race:
12.55 Doncaster – 5f Handicap
BOSTON DAN ran a solid race a fortnight ago at York’s final fixture and another bold show is expected.
The favourably weighted three-year-old has proven form on heavy going so conditions won’t hinder him.
1.10 Cheltenham – 2m4f Novices’ H’cp Chase
Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls have come straight out of the blocks flying this season which bodes well for their runner SOGNA IN GRANDE (NB) in the opening race.
The six-year-old will certainly know his chasing role from his early point-to-point days and that experience should prove invaluable around this unique track.
1.30 Doncaster – 1m William Hill Futurity Stakes (Group 1)
Karl Burke is very upbeat about the Too Darn Hot colt BURNING UP (NAP), stating that ground conditions should suit him well on Town Moor.
An eye-catching second to Haffner in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes, he should be able to progress again.
1.45 Cheltenham – 3m Novices’ Hurdle
Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen team up here with ROAD TO WEMBLEY and the five-year-old should score again.
The horse reportedly struck into himself last time at Worcester so we can forgive him that run.
2.05 Doncaster – 6f Prospect Stakes (Listed)
CRYSTAL QUEEN’S resurgent performance at Ayr last time was on soft ground, proving that she can go well in testing conditions, which makes her an interesting each-way option in this Listed affair.
2.20 Cheltenham – 3m Pertemps Hurdle Q’fier
Veteran GOWEL ROAD boasts an outstanding Cheltenham record and can outrun his double figure odds.
Second in this race in 2024, if the ten-year-old is match sharp then he can make the frame at the very least for Team Twiston-Davies.
2.55 Cheltenham – 3m1f William Hill Handicap Chase
I once thought MOON D’ORANGE was destined for great things but he hasn’t quite hit those heady heights – yet!
Now with Christian Williams, the eight-year-old had a workman-like blowout over hurdles at Worcester last month, and this new chasing trip could well be the key to his revival.
3.30 Cheltenham – 2m½f Masterson Holdings Hurdle
Once considered a big Triumph Hurdle hope, ONE HORSE TOWN didn’t quite fire in that race but is still a very able horse.
Harry Derham’s charge has had a recent warm-up on the flat and can adopt his customary front-running tactics again. He is a course and distance winner after all.
