Manchester City – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Manchester City saw their perfect start to the Premier League campaign come to an end on Saturday, suffering a 2-1 defeat away at Aston Villa. Enzo Maresca’s side had won their opening seven league fixtures, although recent defensive performances have been less convincing.
  • The hosts made light work of Norwich City in the previous round, recording a convincing 5-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium. However, Brighton have caused City problems recently, with the Citizens failing to win any of the last four meetings between the sides (D2, L2).
  • Manchester City have lifted the League Cup nine times, with their most recent triumph coming in March, only Liverpool have won the competition more often, the hosts can be backed to win on home soil at 13/20 with William Hill.

Brighton & Hove Albion – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Brighton head to Manchester following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool, Fabian Hürzeler’s side had previously enjoyed an impressive run of results, including four consecutive Premier League victories, but they will now be hoping to rediscover that winning form after becoming winless in their last two outings in all competitions.
  • The Seagulls have been particularly impressive in front of goal this season, scoring 34 times across all competitions and they had plenty of chances at Anfield on Sunday, despite their good form this season, Brighton have won none of their fourteen visits to Man City.
  • Brighton secured their place in the fourth round with a victory on the other side of Manchester at Old Trafford. The Seagulls will now be hoping to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since the 1978/79 campaign, having fallen at this stage in five of the last six seasons, the visitors can be backed at 10/3 with William Hill.

Bournemouth v Aston Villa – Wednesday, 7.45pm

Bournemouth – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Bournemouth have responded superbly to their difficult start to the season, winning four consecutive matches across all competitions. Marco Rose’s side followed their historic victory over AC Milan with an impressive 3-0 success away at Manchester United on Sunday.
  • The hosts have enjoyed a comfortable run in the Carabao Cup so far, most recently beating League One side Lincoln City 4-0 to secure their place in the fourth round, although they have never progressed beyond the quarter-final stage of this competition.
  • Bournemouth have also proved difficult to beat in recent weeks, losing just two of their last 13 matches across all competitions (W7, D4). With confidence high following Sunday’s victory at Old Trafford, the Cherries can be backed at 6/5 with William Hill.

Aston Villa – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Aston Villa arrive on the south coast in excellent form, having won six and drawn one of their last seven competitive fixtures, including a 2-1 victory against Manchester City on Saturday to end their perfect start to the PL campaign.
  • The visitors secured their place in the fourth round with a 3-1 victory over Coventry City, beginning their current seven-match unbeaten sequence. Villa also have an encouraging recent record against Bournemouth, having avoided defeat in each of the last seven meetings.
  • Aston Villa have lifted the League Cup five times, although their most recent triumph came back in 1996, punters can back the Villans to continue the road to Wembley at 19/10 with William Hill.

Fulham – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Fulham have started to show signs of improvement following a difficult opening to the Premier League season. The Cottagers have recorded consecutive league victories, giveing Álvaro Arbeloa’s side some much-needed confidence ahead of Wednesday’s London derby.
  • The hosts have already overcome AFC Wimbledon and West Ham United to reach the fourth round, though the Cottagers tend to struggle in this fixture, having won none of the last nine meetings at Craven Cottage.
  • Fulham have never lifted the League Cup, although they reached the semi-finals for the first time during the 2023/24 campaign, punters can back Fulham at 17/20 with William Hill.

Crystal Palace – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Crystal Palace have endured a difficult run of results recently, with Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat against Newcastle United adding to their Premier League struggles, it’s now four games without a win for the Eagles in all competitions.
  • The visitors have enjoyed a promising Carabao Cup campaign so far and will be hoping history can play it’s part on Wednesday night, they’ve won each of the last four meetings here in West London, including a 3-2 win back in September.
  • Like their opponents, Palace have never won the League Cup, although they have reached the semi-finals on four occasions, the Eagles can be backed with William Hill at 13/5 to continue their fine form in this particular fixture.

Sunderland – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Sunderland return to home soil having done winless in their last three games in all competitions, including a goalless draw here against Leeds on Sunday afternoon in a very poor game of football.
  • The Black Cats booked their place in the fourth round with a narrow 1-0 victory over Hull City, showing they can grind out results even when performances are less convincing. Sunderland are also balancing their domestic campaign with Europa League commitments, which could lead to changes in the starting line-up against Brentford.
  • Sunderland have never lifted the League Cup, although they have reached the final twice, the hosts will be hoping to take another step towards ending that lengthy wait for a first triumph and can be backed at 5/2 with William Hill.

Brentford – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • Brentford head to the Stadium of Light following Sunday’s 1-1 draw away at Hull City, extending their winless Premier League run to three matches, although they’ve lost just one of their ten games in all competitions so far.
  • The Bees opened their Carabao Cup campaign with a convincing 6-1 success against Birmingham City before securing a narrower 2-1 victory away at Reading, though the last time they beat Sunderland here in the top-flight was back in 1936.
  • Brentford have never reached the League Cup final, although their best run came during the 2020/21 campaign when they reached the semi-finals, Keith Andrews’ side are the slight odds-on favourites at 19/20 with William Hill.

Liverpool – Carabao Cup Form and Betting Odds

  • The hosts secured their place in the fourth round with a 3-1 victory over Tottenham, and another success on Wednesday would see them reach the quarter-finals once again, though they’re winless in their last three games against Chelsea.
  • Liverpool are the most successful club in League Cup history, having lifted the trophy a record ten times, the Reds will be hoping to repeat that result and take another step towards an 11th triumph, punters can back the hosts at 5/4 with William Hill.

  • The Blues have already eliminated Luton Town and Leeds United in this season’s Carabao Cup, producing an impressive 6-3 victory over the latter in the previous round. However, Alonso could be without several key players on Wednesday, with Cole Palmer suspended following his dismissal against Tottenham.
