Ballon d’Or Odds: Kane’s hopes dealt big blow ahead of this evening’s ceremony

Harry Kane’s hopes of winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or have taken a hit ahead of this evening’s ceremony, with William Hill reporting significant support for Kylian Mbappe.

Kane remains the favourite at 1/2 but has drifted from 1/3 as Mbappe’s odds have been slashed from 25/1 to just 13/8 following a surge of backing for the French forward.

Lamine Yamal had looked to be Kane’s main challenger and was favourite at certain points in the betting, but the Barcelona star has since drifted to 7/1.

Ballon d’Or 2026 odds:

  • Harry Kane – 1/2
  • Kylian Mbappe – 13/8
  • Lamine Yamal – 7/1
  • Bar – 50/1

Odds subject to change – prices accurate at the time of writing.

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps said: “Harry Kane looked to have the Ballon d’Or sewn up, but he has taken a sharp drift since voting closed, with Kylian Mbappe going the other way as this evening’s ceremony grows closer.

“All the money has been for Mbappe. He looked to have a mountain to climb last week at quotes of 25/1, but his odds have collapsed into 13/8 over the course of the last few days, whilst Kane has drifted to 1/2.

“It’s not so dissimilar to the events of last year with Vinicius Jr and Rodri. Vinicius looked to have all but won going by the odds, but when the money arrived for Rodri, it was clear who’s way it was going. Let’s see if that’s as significant this time around!”
