Canelo Alvarez v Christian Mbilli Predictions: Canelo odds-on to bounce back in Riyadh

| BY News Team

Canelo Alvarez can reclaim a super-middleweight crown this weekend when he challenges unbeaten WBC champion Christian Mbilli in Riyadh. William Hill news are here with everything you need to know.

The fight takes place on Saturday 31 October in Riyadh, but UK fans will need a late one, with ring walks expected in the early hours of Sunday 1 November on DAZN.

Canelo Alvarez v Christian Mbilli Odds

  • Canelo Alvarez – 4/11
  • Draw – 14/1
  • Christian Mbilli – 9/4

The Prediction

The prices point to a fight that goes the distance. Canelo’s points price is far shorter than his stoppage price, and he has never been stopped in his career.

The upset case is a live one. Mbilli’s pace and work rate could pile up rounds if Canelo starts slowly, and some former fighters have backed the Frenchman to end the Mexican’s career. The 9/4 about Mbilli will tempt those who think the champion’s youth will tell.

Even so, Canelo has spent two decades beating pressure fighters by making them miss and punishing them on the way back in. Mbilli will land, but Canelo should do the cleaner work over 12 rounds and take the narrow edge on the scorecards.

Our prediction: Saul Alvarez To Win By Unanimous Decision – 6/4

Tale of the Tape

Canelo (63-3-2, 39 KOs) returns after his unanimous decision defeat to Terence Crawford in September 2025. At 36, he is no longer the force who ruled the division, but his counterpunching, body work and ring IQ remain among the best in boxing.

Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) was handed the WBC belt following Crawford’s retirement and now faces a testing first defence. The Frenchman is a relentless pressure fighter who throws in volume and has stopped more than 80% of his opponents. He is the sort of aggressive, high-output opponent who can make an ageing champion work for every round.

Fight Purses

Canelo is reported to be earning around £35 million for the fight, before any share of pay-per-view revenue or sponsorship. Mbilli is reported to be taking home around £7 million, a huge jump on his reported earnings for his win over Lester Martinez.
