The playoffs are just around the corner and there were some big shocks last week, as the New York Giants upset the Seattle Seahawks, while the previously unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the lowly Washington Football Team. With every fixture now vital, there are sure to be some more upsets in this week’s fixture. We preview some of week 14’s best matchups.
We preview the action, alongside our ambassador Jason Bell.
Cardinals @ Giants
The Arizona Cardinals are still in the playoff hunt but need to find some winning form shortly. Three consecutive losses in a row has seen the Cards season go downhill pretty quickly. They face a resurgent Giants team which has won four on the bounce and sits top the NFC East.
The game is very even in the markets, with the New York side 21/20 and the visiting Cardinals 4/5. The handicap sits at just 1.5, indicating this is set to be a tight game. However, if Kyler Murray and company turn up, there’s no reason for this to be that close. Expect the Arizona slump to end with a comfortable win on the handicap at 10/11.
Saints @ Eagles
The New Orleans Saints will be participating in this year’s playoffs, as they became the first team this season to do so with a win last week. Despite a injury to quarterback Drew Brees, unique signal caller Taysom Hill has stepped in admirably, ensuring a smooth transition.
The Philadelphia Eagles are the exact opposite. Just a few years removed from a Super Bowl win, starting quarterback Carson Wentz has been benched for rookie Jalen Hurts as they look to find some form and end the year with some positives.
New Orleans are comfortable favourites to leave Philly with a win at 10/31, while the Eagles are a long 51/20 to get the victory at home. With the handicap sitting at -6.5, it’s hard to look past a big Saints win, especially with Taysom Hill adding significantly more threat levels to a dynamic rushing attack. Take the Saints -6.5 at 10/11.
Steelers @ Bills
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their unbeaten tag last time out with a shock defeat against the Washington Football Team. This week they face a significantly tougher task against the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills. Buffalo, and Josh Allen, were excellent in beating the San Francisco 49ers last time out, and this could be game of the week.
The Bills are 20/29 to get the home victory, while the visiting Steelers are 5/4 to get back in the win column. With two great sides, it could be one to back the over (46 points) at 10/11 and watch a thrilling matchup between two exemplary field generals.
