Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles Prediction – Thursday Night Football Preview (2025)

The 2025 National Football League season gets underway in the early hours of Friday morning, with the Dallas Cowboys visiting defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
We’ve got an NFC East grudge match to open the campaign and NFL betting fans will be looking forward to the return of Thursday Night Football – it’s been a long offseason that’s for sure!
Cowboys at Eagles Predictions:
Punters can bet on the Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys at William Hill and here are a few of my fancies ahead of the contest:
- Eagles (-9.5 handicap) to win – EVS
- Eagles To Win, Saquon Barkley Over 94 Rushing Yards & CeeDee Lamb Over 72 Receiving Yards – 14/5 (#YourOdds)
- AJ Brown over 99 receiving yards – 10/3 (price boosted)
The Cowboys traded defensive star Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last week and many believe that Dallas will struggle in the 2025 season. Is it too early for the Cowboys to start tanking for the number one draft pick next April?
Dallas are huge underdogs in the season opener – and with good reason. Not only are the Cowboys in a period of transition, but they have to go to Lincoln Financial Field for Philly’s Super Bowl homecoming.

The Eagles will be fired up and ready to go in the opener. Offensively, Philadelphia have one of the most complete units in the National Football League and the makeshift Cowboys defence may struggle from the get-go.
While Dallas have enough offensive weapons to cause problems for their opponents, the defence will need to step up to prevent the likes of Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown from running riot.
Philadelphia finished the 2024 regular season with the best running game in the NFL while they also ranked in the top-ten in the passing game. Meanwhile, Dallas were ranked 31st in points allowed and 28th in yards allowed.
Eagles Too Strong For Cowboys?
So the pattern is already clear for all to see. Based on last year’s statistics, the Eagles should romp to victory and it would be foolish to look past Philadelphia – especially as little has changed at Lincoln Financial Field in terms of personnel.
It’s been all change for the Cowboys and fans will be hoping that they can be more competitive this year. However, I can see a fast start from the defending Super Bowl champions as they take the first step to retaining their crown.
