The first NFL Sunday of the 2025 National Football League season is here and our writer is here with his best bets ahead of Week 1.
The dream of reaching the Super Bowl is well and truly alive for all 32 teams and the start of the 2025 NFL season brings renewed hope and optimism for American football fans.
Here, I take a look through some of the standout games in Week 1 – and here are my best bets ahead of the opening Sunday of the 2025 National Football League campaign.
NFL Tips For Week 1:
- NFL Redzone Boosted Special: Broncos, 49ers & Packers ALL to win – 3/1 (from 5/2)
- Highest Scoring Match on NFL Sunday: Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills – 5/1
- NFL Sunday Week 1 6pm Redzone Games #YourOdds Special: Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Baker Mayfield & Tua Tagovailoa Each Over 249 Passing Yards – 12/1
Strap in (American) football fans, it should be an absolute thriller. It’s great to have NFL Sundays back on our television screens and hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.
Tennessee Titans @ Denver Broncos
Titans quarterback Cam Ward will be making his debut on the road and Denver is always a tricky place to start a season. The Broncos, led by Super Bowl-winning head coach Sean Payton, showed plenty of promise in the 2024 regular season and finished the campaign with a 10-7 record.
Meanwhile, Tennessee ranked as the worst team in the National Football League. They finished the season with just three wins from their 17 regular season encounters but selected Ward with the first overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
Expecting instant success from a rookie quarterback would be unfair, especially given the Titans are building towards the future, so I’m quite confident that the Broncos – contenders in the AFC East once again – are the team to side with in this contest.
Broncos vs Titans prediction: Denver 20-17 Tennessee.
San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks
Home advantage often means a lot in the NFL but the Seahawks were an exception to the rule in 2024. Seattle finished the campaign with a 3-6 record on home turf, and they slumped to a 36-24 loss to their NFC West rivals in Week 6.
While there were doubts over Christian McCaffrey’s participation on Sunday evening, it sounds like the 49ers running back will play and his impact on offence will certainly give the visiting side a lift as they attempt to open with a divisional win.
With a clean run for the 49ers this year, many believe that they could be dark horses to reach the Super Bowl. Sunday’s contest will tell us plenty about whether they’ve got the ‘stuff’ to go deep into the postseason.
Seahawks vs 49ers prediction: Seattle 21-24 San Francisco.
Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers
The Lions finished the 2024 season with the best record in the NFC, winning 15 of their 17 regular season games while the Packers – third in the same division – snatched a wild-card spot despite finishing third in the NFC North.
Many believe that it will be a competitive division again this year but the Packers have been building something special over the past couple of years and Micah Parsons could be the missing piece of the jigsaw as the hunt a return to the Super Bowl.
Lambeau Field will be buzzing for the return of the NFL and the Lions may find themselves under pressure early doors. If Jordan Love can keep things efficient and move the chains on offence, the Packers may have enough to edge past their old rivals.
Packers vs Lions prediction: Green Bay 27-24 Detroit.
Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills
The over/under line is set at 50.5 points for this contest but it involves two of the more potent offensive units in the NFL. Expect fireworks at Highmark Stadium on Sunday Night Football and we could be in for a shoot-out between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.
Two of the best quarterbacks in the business, both players offer a dual-threat at the position and it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see a high-scoring contest. Both players are worth considering in the ‘anytime touchdown scorer’ market, though the arrival of Derrick Henry may blunt Jackson’s upside slightly.
