What have we learnt from Week Three?
It will come as a surprise to many that the Cincinnati Bengals are now boasting a record of 0-3 after a very disappointing start to the season – a record that often doesn’t see a team qualify for the playoffs. Quarterback Joe Burrow is healthy, but the issue is on defense after a string of injuries to their defensive setup, which has left them depleted. That is clearly affected their performances and they need to sort it out sooner rather than later.
Week Four
Seattle Seahawks (17/10) @ Detroit Lions (10/19)
The first game in our preview is the Seattle Seahawks at the Detroit Lions. Seattle arrive in Detroit unbeaten, looking rejuvenated under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald. While they are unbeaten, they have faced three teams who haven’t had the best offensive setup in the Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins, who were without star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Detroit will present a different challenge here.
Heading into their fourth match with a record of 2-1, the Lions beat the Cardinals on Matchday Three by 20 points to 13. They were effective in shutting their opponents down defensively and were quickly able to notch two opening drive touchdowns through David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.
However, last season Seattle went 3-0 over the Lions and they arrive here unbeaten as outsiders, it might be worth a bet on +3.5 Seattle at 10/11.
Buffalo Bills (23/20) @ Baltimore Ravens (20/27)
The Buffalo Bills could not have asked for a better start to their season, marching into their fourth game with a flawless 3-0 record. Despite the loss of key receiver Stefon Diggs, they haven’t been affected by his absence.
They have been spearheaded by quarterback Josh Allen, who has shortened into 9/4 favouritism to win the NFL MVP, but they face their sternest test of the season yet in the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson, the reigning MVP.
It’s set to be an exciting game with two of the best quarterbacks going at it and the offensive action on both ends looks set to be one of the strongest we’ve seen so far. If Josh Allen can continue in the form he has shown this season, as well as the connection he has built up with Khalil Shakir, the Bills can run the Ravens very close despite being slight underdogs. They look a reasonable bet at 23/20.
Kansas City Chiefs (5/18) @ Los Angeles Chargers (3/1)
We must look at the chances of reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs and their matchup at the Los Angeles Chargers. Many were excited about the Chargers’ prospects entering the new season following a new injection of youth into their roster as well as coach Jim Harbaugh returning to LA.
Those backing the Chargers were correct after two games as they found themselves 2-0, however their offence drew a blank in their most recent match and it won’t get any easier against a Chiefs side who are healthy and unbeaten so far this season. Chiefs -7.5 at 10/11 looks worth a go.
