Major League Baseball followers from around the world will be tuning in to see who claims the sport’s ultimate prize as the Toronto Blue Jays take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the infamous best-of-seven series.

The 2025 World Series begins in Toronto on Friday. The Los Angeles Dodgers, who were preseason baseball betting favourites to win the title, are looking to become the first team in 25 years to win the Fall Classic in consecutive years.

The Toronto Blue Jays, holders of home-field advantage, won 94 regular-season games. They defeated the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners to book their place in the World Series for the first time since 1993.

World Series Odds

Punters can bet on the 2025 World Series outright winner at William Hill and here is the current state of the market:

  • Blue Jays – 15/8
  • Dodgers – 4/9

These playoffs have seen the Jays win their first playoff game in nine years and saw them make history as the first team to lose the first two games of the ALCS at home and still win the pennant.

Toronto overcame the Mariners in spectacular fashion, with George Springer’s Game 7 home run immediately making him an iconic figure in Toronto.

Los Angeles’ path has been far more straightforward – the defending champions have a 9-1 record in this postseason and cruised past the 97-win Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.

Key Factors

The Dodgers have ridden a dominant rotation throughout this postseason. Toronto has enjoyed some strong starts, but their starting pitchers have been far more vulnerable than Los Angeles’.

Offensively, the Jays’ wRC+ in the playoffs is 30 points higher than the Dodgers’. Toronto has frequently blown teams out. The greatness of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been supported by disciplined plate appearances from up and down the lineup.

Returning after six weeks out with a knee injury, keep an eye on how quickly Bo Bichette gets up to speed at the plate. Guerrero can’t do it on his own, and Bichette has shown throughout his career he can hit elite pitching.

World Series Picks

It would be great to see the Jays complete a fairy-tale run. They are deserving underdogs for this series, though, and their quiet offensive games at the start of the ALCS serve as a warning.

Repeat that and the World Series will be all but over by the time the teams travel to Southern California for Game 3.

It’s very likely the Dodgers win Game 1 with Snell on the mound, so the Jays at 5/1 to win the series from behind is decent value if you think Toronto can compete.

Alternatively, we like the Dodgers to win 4-1 at 3/1. The Jays have enough firepower to win at least one game, but there’s a good chance this is as lopsided as Los Angeles’ previous series.

World Series MVP Odds

  • Shohei Ohtani – 9/5
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. – 5/1
  • Freddie Freeman – 9/1
  • George Springer – 10/1
  • Teoscar Hernandez – 16/1
  • Blake Snell – 16/1
  • Mookie Betts – 20/1
  • Daulton Varsho – 25/1
