World Series Game 7 Predictions – Los Angeles Dodgers at Toronto Blue Jays Tips

The Los Angeles Dodgers forced a Game 7 of the World Series by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Friday night.

It marks three consecutive games won by the road team and sets Los Angeles up to come back from 3-2 down in the World Series for the first time in franchise history.

This is the first Fall Classic Game 7 since the Washington Nationals got the better of the Houston Astros in 2019. The Dodgers are one win away from becoming the first team to win consecutive titles since 2000. The Blue Jays are one win from a third title in franchise history and a first since 1993.

Max Scherzer is getting the start for the Jays. No one has appeared in more winner-takes-all games in MLB history. Shohei Ohtani, who had a difficult outing in Game 4, is likely to get the ball for the Dodgers, with Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell expected to be available in relief.

Home-field advantage always seems like it should make a big difference in games of this nature, but it’s worth noting the Jays have gone 3-6 at Rogers Centre since the start of the ALCS. In all of playoff history, home teams are 69-67 in winner-takes-all games. Teams that have won Game 6 to force a Game 7 have won 35 out of 56 series.

History, oddly, favours the Dodgers. The pitching matchup also leans to Los Angeles, even with the highly experienced Scherzer on the mound and the prospect of Trey Yesavage and Shane Bieber pitching in relief.

Best Bets: Max Scherzer Over 3.5 Strikeouts (11/10), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 Total Bases (10/11), Over 7.5 Runs (4/5)

Runs are expected in Game 7. Ohtani conceded four in Game 4. Scherzer will be fired up and should have sharper stuff taking him to his strikeout over as a result, but isn’t going to be able to keep this Dodgers’ lineup quiet for long. Mookie Betts broke out of his slump with a clutch hit on Friday, and Will Smith continues to have good at-bats.

There hasn’t been a safer bet throughout this postseason than taking Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to have over 1.5 total bases. Even with a string of low-scoring games overall, Guerrero continues to deliver at the plate, despite the Dodgers often trying to pitch around him.

It’s likely at least one of the starters used in relief (by either team) won’t have it. That could prove decisive if Scherzer and Ohtani keep it close.
