Love was well and truly in the air last week, with one of the couples even announcing their engagement after having met on the show. The timing was particularly fitting in a week when fairytales was the theme of the episode. Eliminated contestant Hamish Gaman was even granted the chance to put on a solo show this Sunday as he looks to put a split with Caprice Bouet behind him.
Don’t expect the mood music to last long, though, as the competition on ice gets hotter every day. We run through the odds available on the main contestants’ victory prospects, as well as those for the next elimination.
Perri & Vanessa
Another week, another record for this season’s runaway favourites. Topping the leaderboard for the third episode in a row, Perri Kiely once again demonstrated his impressive credentials as a professional dancer.
The Diversity starlet earned a score of 35 points for the dance he performed alongside partner Vanessa Bauer. Dressed as a gargoyle, Perri magically came to life as lightning struck in the gothic-style performance. The judges were equally electrified, giving the pair 35 points – the highest score awarded to any contestant so far this series. At 2/5, Perri has retained his strong frontrunner status.
Joe & Alex
Joe Swash and partner Alex Murphy based their week five skate on Sherwood Forest’s most infamous vigilante, performing as Robin Hood and Maid Marian. The judges followed suit, taking from the rich and giving to the poor with yet another personal best of 29.5.
With a string of high-scoring dances, it’s clear that the competition is heating up as we head into week six. According to the market, Swash is second in line to win the series outright, currently sitting at 7/2.
Lisa & Tom
Legendary Coronation Street actor Lisa George took to the stage yet again alongside partner Tom Naylor with a heart-warming routine based on the theme of Goldilocks. The judges awarded them 27 points for a routine complete with three bears and a sizeable portion of porridge.
The dance was not ‘just right’, though, as it was briefly interrupted by a small slip from Lisa. George is 10/1 to claim the ultimate prize and win the series outright.
Despite being eliminated last time out, Kevin Kilbane and Brianne Delcourt still enjoyed the week of their lives, announcing their engagement having originally met on the show. This week, former Love Island star Maura Higgins is favourite to be shown the door at 2/1, with Libby Clegg and Ben Hanlin following closely behind at 5/1 and 7/4 respectively.
