Amir Khan v Kell Brook: All You Need To Know

| BY News Team

Amir Khan and Kell Brook are set to meet toe-to-toe in the boxing ring on Saturday, and the rivalry of a lifetime will finally be settled.

This all-British rivalry has been bubbling for over a decade and although both are probably past their primes, with many pundits suggesting we should have seen this bout five or six years ago, there is no denying it will be explosive.

Both fighters have been relatively inactive of late, with Khan’s last fight coming in 2019 and Brook’s in the latter stages of 2020. This bout will come down to toughness and fitness.

We provide everything you need to know for one of the most highly anticipated bouts in boxing history.

Check out the latest Khan v Brook odds and other Boxing odds at William Hill.

Khan v Brook: Fight time, date and location

The fight will take place on the 19th of February at approximately 10:30pm UK time. The bout will be taking place at the 21,000 capacity AO Arena in Manchester, which recently played host to Derek Chisora v Joseph Parker 2.

Khan v Brook: The undercard

The confirmed undercard for Khan v Brook is as follows:

  • Natasha Jonas v Chris Namus (WBO world super welterweight title)
  • Charlie Schofield v Germaine Brown (English super middleweight title)
  • Bradley Rea v Craig McCarthy (Middleweight)
  • Frazer Clarke v TBA (Heavyweight)
  • Viddal Riley v Willbeforce Shihepo (Cruiserweight)
  • Adam Azim v Jordan Ellison (Lightweight)
  • Hassan Azim v MJ Hall (Welterweight)
  • Abdul Khan v Ricky Starkey (Lightweight)
  • Ibrahim Nadim v Taka Bembere (Super featherweight)

Khan v Brook: The story so far

As mentioned previously, this is no new rivalry. It’s been bubbling for years. Claims will be made that the pair are chasing one final payday, which could be true, but their genuine distaste towards each other and the bitter words shared in the past will make for one truly explosive boxing match.

The rivalry started when the pair were a lot younger, vying for a spot on the Olympic team. Khan has gleefully shared that he used one hand against Brook in boxing training and that there was a reason why he was picked for the team.

There is clearly a lot more to it than just that, as Brook’s distaste towards Khan comes from his dismissive and disrespectful behaviour. He’s also claimed that he has been chasing the fight for years, with Khan brushing him aside.

Many believe the fight could have happened a few years ago when Brook was the Welterweight champion. Khan looked to be ready for the championship shot after racking up some nice wins in the division but decided to pursue Floyd Mayweather Jnr instead.

Both men know that a win here will be huge for their legacies, while defeat could spell the end for their boxing career.

Khan v Brook: Latest betting odds

This fight resembles a match between Speed and Power. Khan has the speed and Brook has the power. At this point in their careers, it’s difficult to say how much of both the pair have but it seems that many believe that power will be the victor in this bout. Brook is the current market favourite at 8/11, and is 11/8 to win via KO, TKO or DQ.

Many pundits don’t expect the fight to go the distance, with the shortest round betting price being for Brook to finish his opponent in Round 7 or 8 at 16/1.

Khan will have to box smartly to avoid being caught by Brook and the Bolton fighter is currently priced at 5/4 to have his hand raised at the end of the bout. Khan to win by KO, TKO or DQ is a boosted 4/1 (was 10/3).

However, he’s been praised for his speed and quick punches in the past and if he can take his opponent the distance, Khan is the 13/5 favourite to win via points.

Given the animosity between both fighters, they are sure to hold nothing back in the ring and odds on both to be knocked down at some point in the bout have been boosted to 9/2 (was 10/3).
