Klitschko v Pulev – 15/11/14

After retiring both Joey Abell and Ivica Perkovic on their stool in between 2013 and 2014, Kubrat Pulev was scheduled to fight Wladimir Klitschko for the IBF world heavyweight title, a mandatory challenger.

It was a valiant attempt at claiming what would the only belt that he is missing so far in his career, as he rose from the canvas on three separate occasions to fight on to defeat.

He was eventually floored for a fourth time in the fifth round, and it was a devastating hook which left Pulev counted out.

Kubrat Pulev said after the fight: “Wladimir is a really good opponent, but he was lucky. I want a rematch”. Needless to say, no such rematch was made.

Pulev vs Chisora – 07/05/16

Following two comeback victories after the defeat to Klitschko, Pulev was scheduled to Derek Chisora for the European heavyweight title.

It was a chance for Pulev to again prove that he belongs with world class opposition, and he took his chance with both hands.

Despite one ridiculous scorecard from Beat Hausammann, Kubrat Pulev scored an easy victory in Hamburg, Germany. Officially, Hausammann’s card was 115-113 in favour of Chisora and considering how one-sided the fight was in the Bulgarian’s favour, he was robbed of a unanimous decision.
