Teofimo Lopez v Pedro Campa preview: Lopez vies for vengeance  

Former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez matches up against Pedro Campa in a super-lightweight brawl, set for 10 rounds at the Resorts World Las Vegas on Saturday 13th August.

A win here would be huge for both fighters, which makes this match-up even more electric.

Lopez looks to bounce back 

The 25-year-old Lopez heads into this bout following his first career loss against George Kambosos Jr last November, after which he ungraciously expressed his displeasure at the decision in his post-fight interview. The question remains whether Lopez can make the necessary improvements after being exposed by Kambosos and also handle the step up in weight class to 140 pounds which he unexpectedly announced following the defeat.

Regardless of his blunder last November, Lopez has a decorated resume with his record standing at 16-1 and having held the IBF, WBA, WBO and The Ring magazine titles. He heads into this bout the strong favourite at 1/25.

Campa to continue Lopez’s woes? 

Campa is undefeated since his lone defeat in 2017, leaving his record at an impressive 34-1-1. The Mexican heads into the bout as the underdog at 9/1, most likely due to him having not faced the same calibre of opponents as Lopez.

Of his 34 victories, 23 have come by way of knockout, additionally Campa is the more experienced fighter having fought 178 rounds in the ring. Campa is also coming into this fight already in top form, having won his last bout against previously undefeated Carlos Sanchez by TKO.

If you do fancy the underdog to get the upset, Campa to win by knockout is available at 14/1. Although on paper this seems unlikely, given the last loss of Lopez, we could see his weaknesses further capitalised on by Campa if he plays his cards right.
