Ben Whittaker vs Conor Wallace Predictions: Englishman 1/9 to Make Light Work of Wallace

| BY News Team

Ben Whittaker and Conor Wallace go head-to-head on Saturday night at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham with a shot at the IBF light heavyweight title on the line, and William Hill news are on hand with predictions and best bets.

Whittaker is the overwhelming 1/9 favourite to beat Wallace, and a win here would put him one step from a shot at the world title currently held by Dmitry Bivol. Meanwhile, Wallace has something of an upset to cause at a price of 11/2.

Whittaker vs Wallace Odds

  • Ben Whittaker – 1/9
  • Conor Wallace – 11/2

Fight Preview

Whittaker arrives a 2020 Olympic silver medallist with a 12-0-1 record, with nine of his wins by way of KO. He’s ranked No.3 by the IBF and has won three straight fights by KO since his draw with Liam Cameron in October 2024. His most recent outing ended with a second-round knockout victory against Richard Rivera in Brooklyn in June.

Wallace (17-1, 12 KOs) is the IBF’s No.2-ranked light heavyweight and arrives on a 10-fight win streak. This is the southpaw’s first professional appearance outside Australia. While he’s ranked above Whittaker, the market makes him a warm outsider.

What To Expect

Whittaker’s speed and movement should be the difference. Wallace’s best route to an upset is to close the distance, work the body and drag Whittaker into the uncomfortable rounds he has been criticised for in the past. That is a big ask against a fighter who has been finishing opponents.

Our prediction is a Whittaker win. The 1/4 by KO, TKO, or DQ looks the likeliest route, but if you want a bigger price, EVS on Whittaker to win in Rounds 1-6 or by decision covers a fast finish or an early decision. With the fight priced at 1/5 not to go the distance, our Round Betting certainly represents some value.

Method Of Result Betting

The exact method market backs the stoppage theory. Whittaker is 4/6 to win by TKO and 9/4 to win by KO. A points win is priced much longer: 11/2 by unanimous decision, 16/1 by split decision and 28/1 by majority decision. Wallace’s best-priced route to an upset is a TKO at 12/1, ahead of a unanimous decision at 20/1 and a KO at 25/1. His split decision is 33/1 and his majority decision 66/1.

What’s At Stake?

No purse figures have been made public for this fight. What is on the line is clear, though: the winner moves into position for a world title shot against Bivol. For both men, that is worth far more than Saturday’s pay cheque.
