Tyson v Paul
Despite having 50 wins to his name, 44 by way of knockout, the former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is the outsider at 9/5 to win the bout, with the market favouring Jake Paul at odds of 4/7. Paul has a career record of 10-1 and is 31 years Tyson’s junior, yet has unwavering confidence ahead of this bout in his ability to defeat one of the all-time greats of the sport.
On Tuesday night, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul appeared in the ring in a public workout and Tyson didn’t look to have lost any speed, not to mention his tremendous power which he still seems to have in abundance. Although tipped to lose the bout, Tyson has come out all guns blazing and won’t want his reputation tarnished at the hands of a ‘YouTuber’. Despite his age, you simply can’t write off Tyson’s chances altogether given what we’ve seen from the fighter over the years, however it has been a whopping 21 years since his last victory. That said, he’s in top shape and his return to the ring at 58 years of age is nothing short of remarkable.
Jake Paul kickstarted his professional boxing career in 2020 and has fought eleven times, being handed only one loss by Tyson Fury’s brother, Tommy, in February last year. Since then he has won four fights, most recently against MMA fighter Mike Perry in July by way of TKO in the sixth round. Paul is yet to persuade the boxing community that he’s the real deal, with his only real challenge against a current professional boxer resulting in a loss having gone eight rounds. Although people are reluctant to take him seriously, the market highlights that he’s the favoured fighter and he does seem to have some talent in the ring. Moreover, his fresh, youthful energy and power could sway things in his favour in the latter rounds, if he gets that far.
Taylor v Serrano 2
Despite flying slightly under the radar as it takes place on the undercard of Tyson v Paul, the bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is a monumental event in not only women’s boxing, but for all boxing fans. The last time the pair met was in April of 2022 and it really was a fight for the ages as Katie Taylor looked down and out in the middle rounds but managed to claw it back to retain her title.
The market can barely decide between the two, with Katie Taylor given the slight nod at 10/11, and Serrano coming in at even money. Taylor has a record of 23-1, with six of those victories coming by way of knockout, and at the age of 38 she still doesn’t seem to show any signs of slowing down. She was handed her first career loss in her first bout against Chantelle Cameron back in May of 2023, but later that year won the rematch to get back to winning ways. There’s not much to split the two fighters, but one thing’s for sure, it is set to be a gripping contest and could easily go either way.
Amanda Serrano has fought far more frequently, with 50 fights to her name and only two losses, one of which was to Taylor back in 2022. Since then, the Puerto Rican has won five in a row, with her latest victory coming by way of TKO against Stevie Morgan. Serrano hurt Taylor in their last bout and could have easily won the decision there. We think this fight will go the distance and we fancy Serrano to take the fight. Therefore, Amanda Serrano By Technical Decision looks the bet at 17/10.
