Ashes Betting: England Top Series Bowler Predictions

The Ashes Tour Winter 2025-26

The countdown to the The Ashes is on, and England are heading Down Under with unfinished business. It’s been more than a decade since that famous 3–1 triumph in the 2010–11 series – the last time the urn returned to English soil from Australia.

Since then, the Aussies have dominated at home, using pace, bounce and ruthless efficiency to crush England’s hopes.

This year, though, there’s renewed optimism in the camp. England’s fast-bowling arsenal looks as potent as it has been in years – perhaps ever. If the tourists are to finally reclaim The Ashes, it will likely be their pace bowlers who make the difference. The first Test kicks off on November 21st, and the battle for England’s top series bowler is already heating up among punters.

Jofra Archer – 12/5

Jofra Archer is the favourite – and for good reason. Archer’s long-awaited return from injury could be a game-changer. When fit, there are few bowlers in world cricket who can generate fear quite like Archer. His blistering pace, accuracy and ability to extract bounce from even the flattest decks make him a nightmare for Australian batters.

At 12/5, he’s rightly the front-runner to be England’s top series wicket-taker. If he stays fit across five Tests, the Aussies could be in for some uncomfortable mornings.

Gus Atkinson – 5/2

Hot on Archer’s heels is Gus Atkinson, the Surrey speedster whose stock has risen rapidly. Capable of hitting the 95mph mark, Atkinson’s raw pace and aggression could be the perfect foil to Archer’s precision.

At 5/2, he’s the second favourite and a tempting bet for those who think the Ashes could mark his international breakthrough. Australian wickets tend to reward sheer speed, and Atkinson has plenty of that.

Josh Tongue – 11/4

Next in the pecking order is Josh Tongue at 11/4. The Worcestershire seamer brings heavy ball movement and a knack for extracting bounce – attributes that will serve him well on the fast, hard tracks of Brisbane and Perth.

He’s not as headline-grabbing as Archer or Atkinson, but his consistency could quietly rack up wickets across the series.

Brydon Carse – 4/1

At 4/1, Brydon Carse offers intriguing value. Strong, athletic and capable of serious pace, Carse embodies the modern fast bowler. His ability to hit the deck hard and deliver quick bursts could make him a surprise contender, especially if England rotate their fast bowlers to stay fresh.

Add his big-hitting lower-order batting, and Carse could become a key weapon in England’s attack.

Other Contenders

Skipper Ben Stokes (9/2) is never one to rule out. Even as an all-rounder managing his workload, his knack for producing magic moments with the bat and ball keeps him in the conversation. Matthew Potts (6/1), a steady performer, brings relentless accuracy and discipline – qualities that could pay off over five Tests. Stokes is also 7/1 to be the top series run scorer.

Shoaib Bashir (6/1), England’s promising off-spinner, might come into play later in the series.

And don’t forget Mark Wood (13/2) – another express paceman capable of 95mph rockets and match-turning spells.
