Giro D’Italia 2025 Betting Tips & Predictions: Leading Contenders

Who will win the Giro D’Italia this year? We analyse the leading contenders ahead of May’s Grand Tour.
The 2025 Giro D’Italia begins on May 9 in Durrës and finishes on June 1 in Rome. One of road cycling’s three Grand Tours, the Giro D’Italia is a massive live betting events for fans around the world.
Taking place over almost a month, riders are looking to top the General Classification standings. This means completing the stages in the shortest combined time.
Coverage of the Giro will also feature analysis of the Mountain Classification and Points Classification. The former sees points awarded specifically for climbs during mountain stages, while the Points Classification is based on points won based on performance on each stage.
The Favourites
Of the 22 riders to win the Giro D’Italia on multiple occasions, 16 are Italian. No Italian has topped the General Classification since 2016, however, and there is limited Italian representation at the top of the Giro D’Italia cycling betting markets.
Primoz Roglic and Juan Ayuso are the clear favourites for this event at 6/4 and 7/4, respectively. Roglic delivered a masterclass to get the better of Ayuso in Barcelona, which surely gives him the psychological advantage heading into the Giro in early May.
This year’s Giro has the most metres to climb since 2020, with several long, gruelling stages in the early going. Fewer distance is dedicated to time trials, which should skew this in the favour of the stronger climbers. Notably, only two stages finish on a summit – how riders pace each stage and when they choose to attack will be fascinating.
Recent form and his Grand Tour pedigree make Roglic the man to beat. There’s a good chance his odds shorten further before the Giro gets underway; such was his imperious performance in Catalunya.
The teamwork of Ayuso and Adam Yates might give the UAE Team Emirates pair a shot at causing an upset, and others will be confident they can put up a fight, but it would be a surprise to see anyone other than Roglic come out on top.
